I give up!! (Wii wireless / internet connection failures) - Page 2

I have the same Netgear cg814wg router with Road Runner service from Time Warner Cable and I have been unable to ge the Wii to connect to my network. I go through the set-up procedures and the Wii recognizes my network, but fails to make a connection. I am a tech idiot and could use some step by step help to get this thing working. Thanks

It simply will NOT work. And there is no firmware update for this model.
I would recommend calling Roadrunner and asking if they have a Linksys wireless modem that you could swap for. That's what I did.

chodite,

I had read on the nintendo forums that someone was able to get this router to work by going into a "superuser" setup and disabling the firewall. However, the login and password they suggested didn't pull up the correct settings page for time warner. Is it possible for the internal firewall to be disabled via this supposed "superuser" settings page? If so, anyone know the login for time warner.

Thanks

It has to do with Comcast's wireless modem/router.

I have the Netgear version and because there has really never been a firmware update for it, the router is not compatible with the Wii's wireless. Kind of strange since the DS connects just fine. But here's the details of my problem -

I'm going to exchange it for a regular cable modem and buy my own router.

win win.. now you don't pay them to rent their crappy equipment!!!
