after oggling at Hulk's PQ, who actually enjoyed the film?

I for one did not - such a surprising movie since I'm a huge fan of almost every other Ang Lee film. I also had problems w/ the whole color tone of the film, it was too naturalistic for a comic book movie, imo; PQ was sharp as hell, but not much in terms of 'color pop'. I don't feel bad b/c I got it for Christmas, but I can't help feeling that I'll most likely never pop this disc into my A1 again

I left the Theater and said "Man I really think Hulk got a bad rap". I liked it I even said it was better then X-Men 1 which at this time was second to Spiderman for comic based movies. I really liked this movie, and I thought the CGI was really well done, though I tend not to hate CGI like some people. I think a lot of people tend to think oh its CGI and CGI looks bad so this must look bad. The only exception seems to be movie that are held in high regard for other reasons (JP, T2 and LotR).

But that just me I thought it was a good movie with a good story but a slightly week ending and one of the best CGI main characters ever next to maybe Smeagle.

but a slightly week actor

Josh Lucas?

I liked it, its not the best comic book movie, but I enjoyed it, They needed more action.

It's a great looking disc, but the movie stinks, and I was a huge Marvel comic book fan back when I was a kid. The action scenes make great demo material, but that's about it.

I skippped thru it just because of the good PQ, probably the worst Marvel movie ever.

Ahh It was a joke reply anyways... sort of.

I did not think your were referring to Bana anyway.

My votes goes to Elektra!

HULK might have been better off had it not actually been called the Hulk!

Seriously, the Nolte stuff, the parental guilt, the father/son dynamic -- all of that belonged in a different movie. It had nothing to do with the character and certainly was not appropriate for younger viewers who -- of course -- love the big green one.

That said the movie IS fascinating visually, I love the Hulk as a character and ILM's work, plus it has some great, ambitious moments in it. The performances are all just kind of okay and it's hard to find someone to root for in it. Overall it's a mixed bag but I'd prefer it to ELEKTRA anytime

On the other hand I certainly understand why this sequel they're making (it's in the works) is going "back to basics" and is apparently not going to reference this movie much at all...and WILL apparently go back to the "real" Hulk and what made the character work, both in the comics and the TV series to a lesser degree. I think we can expect a much more "audience friendly" and certainly age-appropriate film when/if it comes around.

The Hulk's not a bad film, but Lee gives the viewer not one character to root for or care about. It leaves the viewer rather cold...

Great PQ and a decent movie.

CGI was REALLY well done in comparison to Spidey and even the more refined Xmen. And I don't mind staring at Jennifer Connelly's perfect face for 2hrs. Eric Bana is an outstanding actor and Ang Lee is a really really good filmmaker(Eat Drink Man Woman one of my faves). What went wrong? I just couldn't really get into it.

In comparison - Batman Begins - which the forum collectively(including myself) considered overrated(but spectacular nontheless) PQ - I could watch multiple times, and I have. For those who enjoyed it, what did you like especially about Hulk? I'm curious.

Without a doubt!!! That was PAINFUL to watch. Hulk is not even in the same league as that pile of poo. Hulk is probably one of my top 3 comic book movies behind Batman Begins and the original Superman.

Very dark in tone but for no real purpose, and a boring movie in general. I regret buying the disc. Nick Nolte saved the movie from being 1/4 stars.

The movie took too long to go nowhere.

Even though this movie was a mixed bag for most, Universal have announced awhile ago that they're "re-doing" the movie, as opposed to making a sequel for this one.

The director will NOT be Ang Lee. It will be directed by Louis Leterrier ("Transporter 2," "Unleashed"). The script will penned by Zak Penn (X3: The Last Stand).

It should be released in Summer 2008.

Oh, almost forgot to provide a source :

I'm really looking forward to this take on the Hulk's story .

Didnt like the movie at all. I hate when they rework super hero origin stories. Stick to the material, its what the people want to see

I enjoyed the movie and I liked the CGI in it..........

My vote for the worst lately goes to daredevil. But the hulk was a pile. Not even worth watching for me. I won't be seeing the HD DVD after seeing the SD version long ago.

As I stated earlier, it ranks among my worst big budget movies in the last 10 years. Pearl Harbor is also on that list, but I still think Hulk was even worst!

The movie lost me long before he jumped on the jet which went into the stratosphere and returned to earth unscathed!

Brutal!

I thought it kinda got a bad rap... I was luke-warm about it on the first viewing (at the theater), but I liked it considerably more the 2nd time around (HD-DVD).

Of course, it helped that I was drooling the whole time, taking in the insane PQ

I agree. And the story was a little boring.

I've probably put the disc in 30 times but haven't sat down to watch the entire film again.
I think the Hulk scenes are just amazing. Little things like when he first turns and tears up the lab, he slips and falls when busting through a room.

I'm biased because I was such a huge Hulk comic fan when I was a kid.

I think Robert hit the nail on the head when he mentions that there is no one to root for.
They spent so much time on the father dynamic that you really don't attached to Bruce and his issues.
And Betty is so vague. There should have been more of a triangle with Talbot and Bruce.

My other problems were:
The accident. It wasn't representative of the outcome. If you are going to turn into a 15 foot monster, you need a bomb, baby!
The father. As mentioned, I think they did too much and it seems the "Absorbing Man" stuff was added on. They would have been better off having the jealous scientist that causes the accident in the comics, try to steal his ideas, etc.
The ending. Ooff. I think they ran out of money and had to do something. I always turn it off when he changes back to Bruce in San Fransico.

Loved everything else.

That doesn't excite me at all. The whole X-men series sucked monkey nuts as far as story was concerned. There was so much potential there with the material and storylines available and they gave us a bunch of pathetic crap. The only good thing was

SPOILER@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@Cyclops dying. That arsehole left Morph behind. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@SPOILER END

I sure as hell hope the remake gets a better story.

I saw it theatrically and didn't care for it, but gave it a second-chance rental because of the raves about the PQ.

I actually enjoyed it the second time (maybe because I knew what to expect). It isn't perfect and I have some quibbles, but it works more often than not. A direct sequel actually would have been interesting, although I certainly understand Universal deciding to do a reboot.

Anyway, I liked it. This will go on my "to buy" list.
I thought it was decent. I don't regret buying it. And the CGI was incredible. I can't imagine CGI getting any better than that.
It's an 'adult' movie. The producers took a comic book character and tried to shape a story about something more than 'bang bang; blow it up; beat it to a pulp, etc.', and, for me, it worked. It's a '60's film approach that wants you to leave the theater discussing and thinking about the consequences of our actions, in this case 'science without moral values'. Anyway, like I said, it worked for me.
Theres no way you can think The Hulk is the worst superhero movie ever if you have ever seen Daredevil, Catwoman, or Electra.
The Hulk comic was the same straight faced serious tone. So to me, the movie was spot on and I thoroughly enjoyed it. CGI was awesome, I liked the acting, and the story was interesting enough.

Electra was the worst Marvel movie because they made a ruthless, nasty, violent, assassin into a scared whiny and RUNNING away (GASP) girl who could do a little Kung Fu. Electra would slit your throat while you hugged your dying mother! Electra used to try and KILL DareDevil (not just beat him up) constantly. She was a paid assassin, she did not fear anyone. They turned her into a screaming blonde in some Halloween slasher flick. It was horrible what they did to the character, not just the movie. DareDevil (one up on Electra for total crap movie of all time-at least they remembered he was blind! )

As much as I'm a fan of HI-DEF pq, I won't even consider purchasing this title on HD-DVD.

The funny thing though is, I bought "Supe Retns", liking the movie/story, and its HD-DVD pq (I soon discovered) is shall we say, "SuperLow"? IMO....and a few others I guess.
