I have the LG 42LC2D TV and am using the LG DR1F9H DVD recorder, up converter. The LCD has 2 HDMI ports, one labeled HDMI/DVI, the other as HDMI (Note: the LG website lists this model with only one HDMI port). When I hook up the DVD via HDMI, it is sort of hit and miss. At first, I would get an Invalid Format on the LCD, although audio would work just fine - occassionally could get it to display but it would be pink. I exchanged the DVD for the same model, now, no audio, but video works, although the pink problem still occurs. I am able to manually set the DVD to 720p, and if I do a power off and back on on the DVD (with that setting of 720p) I can get good quality video, but still no audio. However, occassionally the pink will show back up on the video, and I have to power off/on the DVD again. I have changed HDMI ports, and swapped HDMI cables with my DirecTV HDDVR and the same problem. The problem does not occur using either component, or composite cables. After much reading on this board, I think I will be ok with video quality of using component cables, but am worried that I will lose the up-conversion feature of the DVD. I also don't really care about the no audio as I always use my av reciever anyway. I just want the video quality to be consistent. Any suggestions? Very frustrated, and tired of pulling everything out of the cabinet!! I have noticed that the pink video will show up when a DVD restarts a movie, or occasionally on a change of chapters. I have also tried powering everything off and unplugging, turning on the TV first, then the DirecTV HDDVR, then the DVD, but the same problem, although that process made the video image consistently come on at least.
