Decent setup, espcecially for a 15 year old! I am 17, and do not have as good a setup, though I do have a subwoofer and a center speaker. I have a sony HTIB and a HECO Krypton center (advent heritage center). I still have the crappy receiver from the HTIB, that is my next upgrade.

You not have much compared to many others on here, but I like that you take the time to do correct placement, many people with systems 20x as costly have their surrounds in odd spots.

Nice to see someone your age concerned with audio and video quality. But let me warn you this is a disease and there IS NO CURE!!! Been into this since 1965 so I should know.

You know, I love seeing pics of systems like this. I'm 34 now, but I remember very vividly when I first realized I could turn my room into a little home theater. Even with inexpensive gear/speakers, you can really enhance the experience over what you get from the tv audio alone.

Your system is better than what I had when I was 15, that's for sure! Enjoy

I'm always amazed at that. I've seen nice speakers in horrible sounding rooms, with no room treatments and just wondered what the person was thinking.

I have a set of those speakers in my office and they sound fantastic for the price.

exX08, how does your turtle like it when it crank up the volume?

If I had that set up in my bedroom at 15 my old Marvin Gaye cassettes really would have worked their magic.....

Thanks for all the compliments. To answere some questions:

-I do have a center channel and sub. But they are hidden. Sub is under bed and center is behind the TV.

-It sounds absoulutely amazing.

-And the turtle hates it.

More comments would be nice.

BTW it is a sweet comferter.

I'd actually like to see a pic where you get most of the room in there....you know what I mean? Just so that it gives a better sense of scale to things.

You'll also have to post pics down the road after you make your first few upgrades

Good job! You have chosen a never ending path so better study a lot so that you can earn big bucks to support this addictive hobby. :-)
Not too shaby, I started out when I was about your age, now 15 years later with different multiple setups and many bucks spent Enjoy and have fun with this great hobby
post #16 of 57
well done !!!!

i am impressed. i didn't know crap when i was 15. you've done good.

the most important thing is you must learn to enjoy the magic of it.
Hey, I'm impressed! You bought wisely. I was a budding audiophile at age 15, and was building my own (crappy) speakers and amplifiers from kits. Jeez, it's 45 years later, and I'm STILL playing with this stuff. I hope I never have to get a real job!

Again, well done...

Ah the good 'ol days. I had 6 speakers in my bedroom when I was 16 (31 years ago) Long before anyone knew what a cd player was. Drove my poor old mom crazy playing Black sabbath and Judas priest at insanely loud levels. Kudos on your system young man....

I will be adding more pics once the paint on my stands are done drying. Probably 30 minets.

great comforter... I love wolves!

Nice. I really like that you took the time to take and post pictures. We hardly ever see pictures in this forum. Apparently audiophiles are spending all of there money on audio equipment and therefore can't afford a digital camera (like myself).

Nice setup, and smart choices. Much better than I had at 15.

For best performance, you should probably move the center out from behind the TV. You should be able to see it from the listening/viewing position, so that the sound travels directly from the speaker to you, rather than bouncing off walls and other objects. You could put it on top of the TV, make or buy a TV shelf (like the Sanus ones available at Target), or put a shelf on the wall. Ideally, the speaker will be tilted (up in back) to face you directly.

Also, move the speakers so they are right at the front of the stands. You don't want the surface of the stand to extend past the front surface of the speaker baffle. Since you made the stands, you could also put a board on the front (so they look like a floorstanding speaker from the front) to reinforce the bass.

Time to get a job punk!

Seriously though great pics. Listen to maxcooper...especially about the center channel.

This looks like a really nice set up! Just for kicks try pulling the left and right spkrs forward a foot or so (out into the room a little more). Also power cords should not run side by side with other interconnects and cables.
This thread makes me smile. I like the idea of the subwoofer under the bed for that time of night . Boy better not be watching heavy bass porn. LOL. Anyways, nice entry level of home theater.

BTW.

What kind of TV is that?
Nice im 15 too. Took a few years but I saved up and now have a projector and a surround sound system its incredible.
Oof, I couldn't handle that size TV even if it was right at the end of my bed.

You really like Best Buy's Insignia huh?

Just to ask, how's the picture quality and the sound quality?
By being only 4:3, hows the 1080i fits into the 4:3 instead of 16:9?
