I voted for tremendous value........ greatest thing since sliced bread? not yet personally.... YET... and PERSONALLY are key words for me here.... the reason is the games, I find that the games I bought so far are a lot of fun and are great all around..... Resistance Online is addictive as hell for me. But once more games come out then yes... ill never leave my living room.

Basically I voted for tremendous value because its a great system, has TONS of potential like the 360 did when it launched, the Blu-ray player so far has been just awesome, the media functions like uploading music and videos is great, the web browser is alright, the store is cool and seems to be getting updated very often....

I really enjoy uploading my digital pics from my 4gig flashcard off of my Canon XTi SLR....... its a great camera and it works seemlessly uploading pics onto the machine with the slots... I just like this thing a lot....

I voted tremendous value. I also think it would be an eyesore in a home theater equipment rack which leaves me wondering if the "guts" could be transplanted into a nice htpc case?

Good value for me. I'm very happy with the hardware and just want Sony to hammer out some software improvements.

what about the missing selection - "doubles as a room heater" ?

I am curious about the heat issues cos my 360 runs very cool to the touch without any AC in the room. The PS3s I have played around with run full tilt with the airflow less hot than even my 360's.

Anyone done a temperature read on the output airflows of both?

Touch the brick, keep some ice handy

Obvioulsy you have something wrong with your machine. My PS3 runs VERY cool...so much cooler then my 360. Also many video game reviers(magazines and such) have also stated how cool the machine runs.

Agreed. Mine sure does pump out a lot of air from the backside, but it is whisper quiet for the most part (much more so than my 360) and it is a tremendous value, with a BD player built in for $500. My home is wired for CAT6, so I don't care about the wireless, and I have a PC if I want to view pictures, ect.

I voted for 'good value'. I think once more games and movies are available for it, it will fall in the 'tremendous' category.

I have to agree. After many hours of game playing, my console still was running cool.

Not a good value for me, I paid $150 over retail to get it early and BRDs (HDDVDs included) are only marginally better and there are only several worth $60 games out and short demos. As of now, it's losing the value race.

As for looks, this thing is hideous. Piano gloss? Sweeping curve? Does Sony have any clue of what equipment racks are?

One of the best consumer electronic values I've ever had. Sony did a fantastic job.

My PS3 runs cooler than my 360 as well. My PS3 is dead silent while my 360 is very loud.

I voted tremendous value. I have been happy with the PS3. Blu-ray has played great for me and I have no issues with the system.
Great Value but in terms of heat people should expect it to be hotter than the 360 because the power supply is inside.
Tremendous value... if you want to use it for more than just gaming (like me).
I can run my PS3 all day and night watching BD's and playing games etc. and it runs very cool..... and very quiet!

Excellent BD player, so its a tremendous value to anyone with a home theater...
Tremendous value. It's a great BD player, and the games are fun too. It's slickly designed, and will only get better with time as more games and BD movies are released.

hi dude,

May I ask why you chose every single choice in the poll?

cheers

Good value...needs more games, and background downloading before it becomes a "tremendous value" in my book

hehe, good one

I forgot that the 360's heat centre is the brick and not the console.

Since you (12 so far) consider the PS3 to be not worth the 5 or 600 you paid for it, how much would you be willing to sell it for?

Let's have some money where the mouths are

i think the PS3 is very pretty a great coffee table conversation its a lot better looking than Xbrick......I like the shiney to it.

Right now the only thing it is for me is a cheap BD player. The 360 is for gaming. I'll play demo's here's and there but it'll take some "WOW!" exclusives for me to get PS3 games. The Online and lack of rumble are a huge turnoff for me.

hey guys living in the US of A, here's a cheap PS3.

I live in Singapore, so the warranty is not going to be usable here. If you brought it down to 350 including shipping, I would seriously consider buying it myself. Hows it working btw? Any issues yet?
