Xbox 360 to stream mp3's wirelessly?

Could anyone doing this tell me how the Xbox 360 does at streaming mp3's wirelessly?

I'm interested a media streamer for MP3 streaming only and think that the Xbox 360 might be a nice alternative to a dedicated media streamer. I do not wish to stream any video.

I could run ethernet to my router in my basement but I'd prefer to set it up wirelessly - if this works reliably.

Thanks for any replies.

I've doing this since getting the 360 5 weeks ago. I purchased the ms wireless adapter, which isn't cheap, and a router that does both A and G. I have to many problems with the G frequency, but the A works flawlessly. If you don't have many wireless networks close, G may work fine, except when the microwave is running Good luck.

i have also been doing this for the last 6 months.

it works great. I use tversity as the media server because it does a better job than the media share software from microsoft.

Also it is great for streaming your digital photo collection.

Thank you both for the replies - that really helps me out a lot. I never thought about streaming my photos - we have tons of .jpgs of our son. How do the pics look on the tv? I have a 50" Samsung DLP atm - and wonder how they'll look on it - they are from my Nikon D50 dslr - 6mp each.

The pictures are sized to fit the display. The closer they are to the native resolution of your tv the better. I actually went with a Linksys wireless gaming adapter that supported 802.11a/g and it worked very well. The 360 didn't have any issues with it. Later though I went with a wired solution which doesn't suffer from the microwave

Note that you really don't need A/G to stream audio files to your 360, I have tested this over 802.11 B without a hitch. You really would notice issues if you were streaming video, but that's an entirely different subject...
