Chess Anyone?

We just finished a 700sf playroom and ultimately opted to not put 12x12 black and white tiles in one area for a giant Chess board. The problem was that those giant chess pieces you sometimes see in movies or at fancy resorts are VERY costly ... thousands of dollars.

The question now is can we get a checkerbaord carpet that can be cut and bound as the chess board (unless someone knows of a better choice) and then get large plastic chess pieces for a reasonable price. Any ideas?

Nice idea for a playroom. Here's a set for $429.00:

A Google search for "large plastic chess pieces" turns up a few more in that price range...

Thanks. The last time I googled for this I did not find those sites. Now that the room is finally done and ready for furniture I'm resuming the search and idea.
