Hi all, I'm sure I'm doing something wrong here, and would like some help. I'm connecting my PS3 with a HDMI cable to our Hitachi Ultravision Digital Plasma unit and I can't find/get audio or video....what do I need to do to enable this?

Thanks, Tony

Have you played around with the power on sequence for the 2 devices?

Mike, do you mean to cycle the power? I'm not sure I follow you. I'm not to swift on these things...

I don't have an HDMI TV but many have reported problems with the cable box and the TVs when using HDMI. My suggestion was to try changing the sequence you use for turn on. Turn on the TV then the cable box or the other way around. My thinking, since digital is all or nothing, it might be like what happens if you connect a DVI screen to a running PC, the screen doesn't wake up until the PC is rebooted when the devices "talk" to each other.

BTW, you might have more consistent performance by using component cables instead.

Good luck

Go into the Playstation setting and set up the video output for HDMI. It will only output through one format at a time. Of course, you'll need the composite connections to go through the setup procedure (I don't know why the idiots at SONY don't get this yet!). And you'll need to switch it back to composite while on HDMI if you want to go back to composite! Helps to have both composite and HDMI cables connected on your HDMI TV.

Sigh!
