OPPO 981 problem/question

I just hooked up my 981 Friday and watched a couple of DVD's and the picture was perfect. Today I turned it on and the screen was red so I turned it off and back on and the screen was fine. What could cause this? I'm running it at 720P on my XBR1 until my XBR2 gets here. Any help would be appreciated.

There have been a couple of beta firmware updates that fix some HDMI handshake issues. Check the 981 main thread for links, or just email Oppo.

I guess I'll wait until the new tv gets here and then call OPPO if I have a problem, I've been watching DVDs all day and it's been working fine.

You may want to try the 0-1227B.

Just recieved my 981 2 nights ago. My 981 and my Mit 55513 RPTV are in sync only for the first 10 seconds the Oppo is on. Would this new beta version fix this problem? If not, I will have to return the Oppo.

Thanks Jake

sorry to revive the old thread, but i have a problem with my oppo 981 and just wondering if anyone out there also have similar problem

my machine suddenly refuses to closing/loading in anymore. the tray will not closing in like before. when you push the eject button it just refuse to retract the tray back inside.

the player has the latest firmware and updated a while ago (not long after the latest firmware released) and only used occasionally as i have a samsung bd-up5000 and pioneer dv989.

any idea why ? it's not even a year old i don't think. worst case just passed a year of age.

me puzzled..

Try pulling the power cord for 30 minutes.

If it's under 1 year it's still under warranty.

If you can't get warranty service, I would open it up, blow out any dust and reseat the chips and connectors.

If that doesn't help, Oppo will do out of warranty repairs for a small fee.

Ensure that there is no wire or obstruction which is causing the tray to not extend out or return back into the player.

Try fully extending the tray (pull it out completely towards you, then jerk it) then pressing the Eject button to recall the tray. It is possible that the tray is not aligned with the bar that runs along the bottom of the tray.
