Best projector for $2000?

I have $2000.00 to spend on a projector and want the best for my money. I have a complete dark room and screen with cables. I am wanting 720p and 1080i compatibility and doesn't matter if its through HDMI - DVI or Component.

Thank you for your opinions

My vote goes for the Panny AX100. Why? Because I bought one. It blows me away.

But this is my first PJ. My basis for comparison is none, zero, zilch. You'll hear from the Optoma72/Mits 1000/Sanyo Z5 etc. camps as well. Bias is to be taken with a grain of salt. I made my decision based on this forum and several reviews. I couldn't be happier.

You should go ahead and post your screen size, throw distance and placement limitations to help posters to narrow their rec's.

From one newb to another, good luck. It takes home entertainment to a new level.

The projector will be 16' back, screen is 119" wide screen Draper, completely dark room. Projector can be shelf mounted. I was hoping for wide screen but may need some input there.

I'd look into an Optoma HD73. The Mitsubishi HC3000U is a great choice too and under $1,500 (would be my second choice).

Your question should have accompanied your room conditions and mounting preference...if you need lense shift get the Panny...if you are ceiling mounting then that opens the door to other options. If you want rear shelf or table top, make sure you buy a projector with plenty of lense shift...The Panny is pretty hard to beat...Possibly the Z5 Sanyo if you don't mind SD at closer viewing distance...

I would read the epson 810 thread. The international version, TW700 is the same unit and under $2000.
Epson is famous for customer support.

Without a doubt, the mitsubishi HD3100 unless you need lens shift then the TW700 is a great choice.

www.cine4home.com has a review of the HD3100.

However you can get 90% of the performance from a Mitsubish HD1000 for $900
