Sheesh! I'd have bet the top pictures are BD. The hair in the first shots look much sharper. Perhaps it's my 1920x1200 display not showing these small images quite as well. The first pictures definitely look "sharper." But, as you said, it might just be EE. Need bigger pictures!

In any case, clearly The Fifth Element is not the best BD demo!

Stunning pics everyone.

PioManiac: The one with the close-up of the human face, and the facial hair is unbelievable.

Chako: What movie is your still/screen grab from?

Thanks everyone for sharing.

I know I'm in a minority here but I like HGttG. Maybe because I never read the book.

Anyway I love seeing the creature shop put to use in movies and the Blu-ray looks just as good if not better than when I saw it in theaters. Sharp and vibrant colors.

As usual it looks much better in real life because my camera sucks.

Sony VPL-VW50 (1080p LcoS) projected onto a 108" 16x9 screen.

Currently I'm using an ancient JVC projector (SX21). However I will say the actual images look better than the screen shots outside of the black level.

Can someone please give me some setting to set my not so great Kodak 6.1MP camera to so that I can get some screen shots like this.

Thanks.

I can't really help but a few basic hints...

1. Use a tripod.
2. Turn off the flash.
3. Import the image to your PC.
4. Open in Paint and resize to 30%.

At least that is what I did with the above.

Turn on night mode and use a tripod. If you dont have nightmode turn your iso setting all the way up and see if you can set your shutter speed time. If so turn it down.

Basically the longer you leave your shutter open the more light can get in. Keep playing until you get a good setting.

What are you guys using to take these pics?
Cameras
LOL!

mine is a 4.1 mp Fuji Finepix A345 (goes for about $100)
totally automatic, point and click, no real features or settings
resting on my coffee table because I dont have a tripod.

Turn camera on, auto focus, turn off flash, place on table, hit timer... Click

totally un-touched by photoshop
other than cropped, down sized and down res'd to about 1/10th of the original for web upload.

Here's some photos I took of the PS3 and Blu-Ray around launch time. Since then, I've purchased a number of additional movies, so I should update this. Anyway, movie photos start on Page 3 (linked below). This is on a Westinghouse LVM-42w2 at 1080p, captured with a Sony DSC-P200 (7MP digicam):

http://www.aceshardware.com/brian/PS3/index3.html

The films are Into the Blue, Underworld: Evolution, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Click on the thumbnail for a larger scaled down image and then click again for the full resolution (NOTE: your browser will scale it).

I'll try to add some photos of Crank, BHD, X-Men 3, KoH, and a few others later.
