Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve 2007

Chart-topper Christina Aguilera will rock in the New Year with live performances from Times Square during "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve 2007," airing SUNDAY, DECEMBER 31 on the ABC Television Network. For the primetime special, country superstars Rascal Flatts will lead the world-class roster of performances that also includes the stars of Broadway's "Jersey Boys," as the show expands from one to a record three performances, live from the show's exclusive performance stage on Military Island before almost a million people, and tens of million more viewers at home. Other musical acts for the 35th consecutive year of the special will include Fergie, Natasha Bedingfield, Meat Loaf and Latin music phenomenon RBD, all from the Hollywood party. Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest will host three specials from New York on this evening, making three and a half hours of special New Year's programming.

The indoor venue looks SD widescreen.

The outdoor stage looks a little shaky. I'd be a little worried if I was up there jumping around!

The video from Nokia Theater has been a bit soft and the strobing lights are causing macroblocking. Our ABC station also has two sub channels which is not helping the PQ.

FOX is not in HD or even SD wide screen.

Oh man, Dick Clark looks and sounds worse than last year. Very courageous for him to be on the show, but i think its time he hangs it up for good

Eh. Live performance is lipsync all the way.

And Christina is wearing far too many clothes...

Can we have more crowd shots while Christina is singing please?

She sounds live to me. There may be a backing vocal track but she is singing live.

That's what I was thinking. It was live with "enhancement". She can really belt it out. Impressive voice.

Here's to CBS having more NFL games in 2007 and affiliates finding multicasting isn't worth it and returning full bandwidth to the main HD channel.... I can dream, can't I ?

Meanwhile, I'm off to check out Sammy Hagar in *true* HD on HDNet...

Now the school girl outfit helps things...but the face is bloated and has nasty sounds coming out of it.

Sammy rocks! Had a client who purchased a Ferrari from him some years ago. Said he was a very nice guy.

How does Meatloaf keep getting himself invited to these things? Does he have dirt on Seacrest or Clark?

Where was the Phil Rizzuto part? That's the only good part of the song
For those of you outside of NYC he's the baseball announcer in the song and was the radio and tv announcer for the Yankees.

Just a heads up - Sammy has girls in bikinis on stage holding margaritas in 1080i.... and no lip syncing... HDNET.
