Speaker placement w/ fireplace mounting? (pic inside!)

The pic says most of it... Plasma mounted above fireplace with tilt mount. I have all denon speakers - I've also already purchased wall mount brackets. Should I leave the surrounds/center on the mantle or put them on the wall? How far from the tv? (notice the window on the left, should the left surround be on the left side of the window or is that too far?) Should I wall mount the center above the plasma or leave it where it is?

About how high should they be?

I would move the left/right out same distances (left next to window) Placed at ear level (sitting mode) and leave the center as is. I would use stands, but since you've already bought mounts???

I actually have stands as well... lemme take a quick pic...

Why would you want stands over wall mounts if you have both? I also already have a speaker plate for wherever they terminate to

(I bought all of this at a closing radioshack for cheap!)

I just would try to avoid screw holes in the wall. Use the stands to test placement then attach if you prefer.

I'm not worried about screw holes at all... I'd rather have something that looks great but is functional. With the center at the 'ideal' ear level placement it really takes away from the plasma... is it okay to mount the center up above the tv but angled down?

Set it up so you can test it out. I've seen it done but it's your ear that decides. If you prefer it there and maybe your receiver allows for individual speaker setting, it could make up any difference in sound level.

Good call - my receiver does allow different speakers levels... I'll use stands just to test it out...

I'd put the R/L speakers out further equidistant from the plasma. Is there room to the left (as you're looking at it) to put the speakers? If not, I'd just put them on the wall...I'm not a huge fan of speaker stands. YMMV

I think it'd look better if you wall mounted the speakers. push them out 1 foot on the left / right. mount them mid hieght of the TV. You can just aim them towards your listening position.

cheesey
Hope you will be running the wires on the side in white wire tubes. And place the speakers some where else or spray paint them to match the wall,or recess them into the sheet-rock and use white grill covers.

All of the wiring will be hidden - right now I'm just trying to decide what to do...
