Please help make my mind up for me for I am confused

I was dead set on upgrading my Optoma H31 to the Optoma HD70 in two weeks, but recently I have been reading a lot about the Mitsubishi HD1000u and it sounds really good as well. Prices are about the same, but I noticed that the Optoma HD70 does 1080p through downscaling and the Mitsubishi HD1000u isn't listed as doing such.

Any opinions either way would be great. I really appreciate the help. Thanks.

1080i/p wont really matter as you are only projecting in 720p.

The HD1000U is the superior projector overall regardless. Glass lens, 10-bit instead of 8-bit, doesn't have the color accuracy issues, is brighter and higher contrast when calibrated. The HD1000U can be had for $899 or less too.

Where do you recommend getting it from? That is a fantastic price.

Call projectorpeople.com and tell them you heard about them and the projector on avs forum.

I would strongly advise you to read Art's reviews of both units at projectorreviews.com before you make a decision. I have looked extensively at both units and my own opinion is that it is not as cut and dried as some might have you believe.

OTOH--you truly can't go wrong with either of these units.
