i was looking at perhaps getting some good quality cables for my HDTV cable box, I saw that there were coaxial cable and a RG6 cable are they the same or different?
Is there a big differences between the two?
thanks

All coaxial cables have a center core and a surrounding shield. RG-6 is a coaxial cable having an impedance of 75 ohms and a high efficiency shield. RG-57 is similar with a lesser quality shield. Conventional wisdom says use RG-6.

The previous post told you that RG6 is a coaxial cable - so I don't understand what you are really asking. Are you talking about the cable between the wall and your STB? That signal will be digital and so as long as the picture is comming through, it doesn't make a difference.

As stated previously RG6 cable is coaxial.

However, there are a few different coaxial cables used for TV hookups. Not all are RG6.

RG6 is usually used for HDTV and broadband signals.

Avoid using RG59 cable for HD.
