HD-A1 upconversion vs HTPC

I would like to get away from using my HTPC to watch dvd's on my samsung ea710 projector. My problem is that I have never seen a DVD player look as good as my HTPC when it come to PQ. I hear how great the Toshiba's upconversion is and wondered if anyone could compare it to an HTPC and if they though it looked as good.

I have both, and while the A1 is an excellent upscaling player, my HTPC running Theatertek and ffdshow and using an Nvidia 7800 video card delivers a more detailed image than the A1.

Running CIH, 1080I to a Qualia 004 projecting on a 5' x 13' screen using an Isco Cinema DLP anamorphic lens.

Darn Vern,
That is not what I wanted to hear! LOL Anyway thanks for the reply. Someday maybe I will make my htpc a universal player but then I have to upgrade it signifigantly seeing as the min. spec for hd-dvd and blu-ray on a pc are so high.

My A1 delivers an upscaled image equal to my HTPC, but after reading Verns post maybe I'm not doing something right.

I have an Nvidia 6600 running the Nvidia decoders. Haven't messed with ffdshow.
Using an Infocus IN76 on a 100" DaLite.

The only thing that will probably disappoint on the Toshiba player is the load time.
