Denon 4306 or yamaha 2700

First time post, long time reader. Time for me to chime in. After much study I will purchase either the 4306 or the 2700. I am limiting myself to these because they both seem to be equal comparisons, I love the sound of both, although my ears are not as refined as many here, They both have the features I am looking for to upgrade from my old yamaha 5.1 receiver. The features I am looking for are;
Quality sound, quality build (both seem to meet this need)
Ethernet
Upconverting of video (the 3806 is a great receiver, but does not convert even to 480P)
HDMI (important for video, but I plan to run composite for my sound)
7.1 (more and more choices)
Program upgradability (part of my future-proof program, I tend to keep longer than some, and I expect ethernet to grow. HDMI 1.3 won't substaintly improve what I can do today, so not an issue.
I have a Sharp 52" Agues, Sony DVD soon to be replaced, Sony VCR (older model, which is why I want to upconvert to 480P), Yamaha front speakers, Boston sides, replacing my center but not sure on what yet, Denon turntable (I just can't let loose of my library of albums, it's just not right)

So here are my questions; which one should I choose???(money is a consideration but a couple hundred now is saved in the future)
Is one more future proof? (Downloads seem to be hard to get for both models)

To be honest, I am not "cutting edge", just advantage oriented. What say you?

Given your "mix and match" speaker set up I'd lean towards the Denon. The Audyssey does a better job of auto EQ in general than the YPAO and that could be a significant factor for your set up. If you want a significant improvement in sound quality down the road look to upgrading your speakers, that's where the biggest bang for the buck is to be had.

Thank you rnrgagne, I was leaning that way myself. I plan to place an order tomorrow, since I have no locals that carry the 4306. Next need is to do some new speakers to compliment the receiver appropriately. I have read the extensive posts on both models, and maybe I will be able to add some perspective to the 4306 from a more novice level.
