remote control extender advice

I'm in need of advice on the very same thing Frost...

Lests hope someone with a little know how helps us out....

I recently purchased this repeater

it is much less money than many of the alternatives. It can work as a "blaster" to repeat the commands to every device at once, or you can buy

http://www.mytvstore.com/product_id_028.html , which is a four device wired emitter. I bought this and it all came to less than $50 with shipping.

So far I am VERY impressed with how well it works. There is no delay. The target sits right next to my lcd powered front projection screen, and I do not get any IR interference or bad signals as I feared I might. I only need the signal to be sent about 20', so range was not really a concern.

I have two questions for ATH-433

1. Why do mannufacturer make two different frequency of this device (433 Mhz and 418 Mhz)?
2. Does this device work for Motorola cable HD-DVR remote?
