Anyway, to elaborate. While many members continue to feel threatened by my statement and have perceived it as some kind of attack, that couldn't be further from the truth. I believe I even stated that there's many nice set-ups (posted in this thread and elsewhere) that have much better equipment than many home theaters. That's not the point. I even added my last post to reflect that.

Doesn't anyone else find it unusual that there aren't more pictures of DEDICATED home theaters in this thread? (go ahead insecure living room HT guy, take another bash at me, it's OK) Not saying that means dedicated theaters are better, they're just different. They're dedicated. Others aren't. Everyone assumed I was bashing non-dedicated set-ups. That's a perception problem that's usually based on insecurities. I can't help it if you interpreted it that way. I never said anything of the kind.

I was trying to find out if the owners of dedicated spaces are less likely to be early adopters (Blu-Ray) or more likely. It seems this thread would dictate they're less likely, but I find that hard to believe. Maybe it's just because they have pics posted in other places. Maybe they all chose HD-DVD. Don't know. It was just the first things that struck me when going through this thread. Sorry my question seemed to have embarrassed so many members.

I'll leave you all to your coccoons of overreaction.

so you can dish it, but you can't take it? It has nothing to do with overreaction, but rather, amusement at your pompous insinuations that because you have a "dedicated" room with crappy equipment, you are automatically more qualified to put down the vast majority of the community here.

but given your first paragraph, I wouldn't have expected anything less....pretty obvious you don't have the slightest clue on what good audio/video is supposed to be:

dunno if you are referring to me, but.......a 40" screen? hung so high?
yeah, because a 50" Pioneer Kuro is the same thing....I mean, who would have thought about the quality being garbage, right? Surely your high end setup would be able to provide pictures with this quality:

with a setup like this:
http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/7...directvjm7.jpg
once the lights go out, comparing it to your "dedicated home theater" would be just way embarrassing for you.....but I don't think you have enough a/v knowledge to understand.

you must be your local salesperson's dream customer!

The guy asked why there were not more dedicated HT room picture in the thread.

It has nothing to do with your setup or what is or is not a home theater. He is not attacking you or any other person who has a HT setup in his living room. Like he said some people have way better gear in their living room than others have in their dedicated HT room.

I plan to post my setup pic soon. I have a crappy camera though so don't hold it against me.

and why do people have to quote the entire post with all the pics again.... knock it off.

Dedicated room here and I bought HD DVD and BD players the day they came out. There is a HUGE difference watching BD on a 40inch compared to a huge screen, say over 100". Sorry but it's true and gives you the "movie theater" feeling compared to the "TV" feeling. Even watching movies on my 73" DLP downstairs pales small compared to a FP set up.

119" High Powered Screen

Infocus 7210 FP

Paradigm Studio Reference Series 7.1 Speakers and Subwoofer

Yamaha RX-V1800 Receiver

DirecTV HR-20 HD DVR

Toshiba HD-A1 and HD-A2 HD-DVD Players

Sony PS3 Blu-Ray Player

X-box 360 Media Player

Oppo Upconverting DVD Player

Buttkicker LFE Transducer

HTPC with 2+ terabytes of HD movies

Zektor DVI and Monoprice HDMI switches

Coaster Studio Home Theater Seats

Internet Connectivity to all Components

Here is an older picture, will post updated ones later this week that are better quality....changed it up some.

I think your definition of Home Theater conflicts with everyone elses. Though I have a dedicated room myself, it's no different than what you are calling a living room setup. It's the same or similar equipment in both situations. Also, I don't think people here are embarassed; I think they are appalled at the elitist attitude you've taken in your posts.

Anyway, as soon as I figure out how to add photos to these posts, I will show my setup. While it's only a humble setup, I enjoy it very much.

12X14 Dedicated Room
46" Sony XBR4 (1080P/24)
Panasonic DMP-BD30 Blu-ray Player
Onkyo TX SR-605 with HBR Audio
Klipsch Synergy 7.1 Speaker Set-up
Toshiba HD-A2 HD-DVD Player
AppleTV Take2
Harmony 890 Universal Remote
Seating - Full Size futon (Yeah, I sometimes sleep in the room)

I am using a Sony VPL VW200 and crystalio II (not pictured) with my set up...

As of now (and will be for awhile) my starting Blu ray player in my theater set up is the Denon 3800.

I like the setup, but do you have any concerns on overheating? I know the cabinet is open, but some of those shelves are real close together.

Arrogant based psychobabble and incredibly illogical thinking.

Once again, erroneous premises and conclusions.

Will that "leave" be permanent?
Maybe we should start a thread on Blu-ray set up owners who want to argue and complain all the time. I for one think everyone here has a great set up some a little more elaborate than others and some a lot more but all are very nice. I would love to have a dedicated home theater like some of the ones shown on this thread but I simply dont have the room or the money. My family and I enjoy our small set up just fine. Now lets see some other great set ups and stop arguing on which one is better or how certain people post.
Grow up you lot, just go and enjoy your BD movies on whatever system you have!

Thanks Bob,

Nice set up yourself and yes, everything is bigger in Texas!

It's funny how screens look smaller in pics but so much bigger in person....

Which stand and speakers are those? Nice setup!

I would post mine, but since its not a 'dedicated' setup I wont bother. Some people like me dont have the space or $$$ for such a thing.

Great setup, i did have a question though. I noticed the pinoeer and onkyo receivers. Is that the onkyo 885( ie a pro), or is it a regular receiver. What are the duties for each are they powering seperate rooms or something?

I +1 that Stange_ brew that a very nice set.
strange_brew do you have to go outside your theatre room to control things or can you do it somehow inside the room? I just find it a bit odd that you didn't integrate the rack into the wall inside the room so you could get up and adjust sound or change disks, etc

just wondering.
^^I would imagine he has some sort of RF system.
No worries on overheating because the back of my rack is completely open. I can walk back there and plug and unplug. Plus I store all my movies and cabinet with all of my movie characters in it... And a fishtank..
nice pics...very nice.
