Room Paint

I dont know if this is the right area in the forum to ask this question but here goes: Am buiding a new house that has a dedicated theater room in the basement. Hoping to get the Pearl with a 92-110" screen once the house is done. The room will be painted off white when I get it(anything else is an "upgrade!!!!!"). I was wondering how important it is to have the room painted in darker colors(assuming that i can get my wife to agree to it!!!)...Thanks in advance

It's very important to have a darker color with a FP.

1. With a dark front wall, the picture appears to have much more contrast and just 'leap out of' the black background.

2. Lighter color walls will reflect light back onto the screen which washes out black level and kills contrast ratio.

Good luck.

I know there is a good thread that you can search for where someone measured the contrast difference, etc with a dark ceiling, etc vs. not. I can't find the link unfortunately, can someone help me out? The jist of the article was that dark ceiling is a good improvement.
