do you have to print something out... how is this handled. i'm thinking of switching from netflix to BB for that. once the local stores have hd-dvd it would be a certainty. another option is downgrade my netflix account and add a cheap BB acount (same monthly cost).

Yes, you print out the coupons they send you and bring them in the stores.

They used to give coupons for other nice stuff like free pre-viewed movies, buy one get one free pre-viewed, all kinds of great stuff. I think I've gotten 3 or 4 movies from them for free all told.

Wrt searching HD and BR movies online, I'm not sure if you can do it unless you're a member. But I know that once you are you can just search under "collections"

thanks.... see them in collections... can't sort by alphabet (title) or "released to hd dvd) but better than nothing.

the coupons come via email or with the discs in the mail?

i know netflix has multiple shipping locations... where does blockbuster generally ship from... regional?

Not any more, no printing req'd! The return envelopes have the barcode on them, so you can kill two birds with one stone: Return the movie and get your next one automatically shipped out AND get the in-store rental, right then and there! BBO seems to be making all the right moves...

Another bonus of BBO: I had one disc that had hiccups during playback, so I went to the website to indicate this in my queue. I was floored when a message popped up that the next movie in the queue would be sent immediately! They didn't even wait for me to return the current movie. Now THAT is good customer service...

BTW, same thing happened w/ a NF rental, and all the website said was "too bad, send the movie in and we'll send the next in the queue". I think the other choice was to have another of the exact same movie shipped, but can't remember if it was immediate or after the damaged one was returned.

In terms of getting movies quickly, I honestly think both NF & BBO are about the same for me. I might give BBO a slight edge, but only slight.

I'll be dropping NF when my current billing cycle is done and sticking with BBO. My local BB had HD DVDs (and BDs, if that's your gig) and is minutes away at U Village in Seattle.

my local BB(roseville,CA) just started to rent HDDVD/BLU RAY so its a no brainer..get hd dvd's in the mail then return them for in store hd dvd rentals..

BUT even if my local BB didn't have hd dvd rentals I would STILL use BB because there progam means you end up getting double the rentals even if half are SD dvd

You can either find the movie and then click "all editions" and select the HD-DVD or BD version, or you can click "Collections" at the top and choose HD-DVD or Blu-Ray to see all movies of that type.

I'm going to cancel my new BB account. They take too long to ship new movies. I brought 2 movies in last week to the store, got a crappy DVD since the local store doesn't have HD, and still waiting a week later for the next movie. I know there was a delay due to the holidays and the Gerald Ford day, but still....

As an experiment, I mailed in a Netflix and BB movie yesterday. Netflix has already shipped the next movie and BB hasn't responded yet despite the fact that both distribution centers are in the same city (San Jose).

To be honest, you have to do a head to head comparison in shipping times over 20 or 50 discs. I find the shipping time from Netflix to vary highly. One of my discs was shipped from as far away as Honolulu (to Texas)! This, I presume, was an HD DVD disc in short supply.

BB keeps sending me SD disks even though I requested HD disks. Its happened with 4 disks now. I have yet to see one HD disk from them
