i see crappy movie like "beerfest" and "the wicker man" are coming out on blu-ray. i already saw these movies in theatre and they are crap. but if these movies come out on blu-ray and they have excellent pq like kingdoms of heaven, tears of the sun, and blazing saddles etc...will u still buy it?

for me...no. even if the movie add extra stuff like hd porno...i wont buy these movies even if they have the best pq...cuz the movie stunk!!!

how about u? what if a movie u dont like.. but have excellent pq in blu-ray...will u still buy it?

I voted... NO - as any somewhat sane person should.

well those crappy movies are coming out on blu-ray format when other great old movies considered by the public and movie critics like gladiator, matrix, spiderman, titanic, etc. aren't even out yet for blu-ray format!!!

There isn't enough people out there with the format to justify blowing the studio's
proverbial wadd.

when dvd came out. it took over 6 years for them to release starwars.

alot of movies sux

don't.........buy............them.

Guilty as charged. Although I am getting better at avoiding crappy movies on nice BDs. I won't be getting The Covenant that's for sure.

Buy them? No. I have enough "questionable" titles in my DVD collection. I've learned my lesson.

"the convenant" is also a crappy movie on my list but it recieved a 5/5 for pq on blu-ray from hidigest.

im not buying this movie.

I will not buy a crappy movie just for PQ.

Excellent example of that is Hulk on HD-DVD.
I might rent a crappy movie just to see the PQ, but since both HD-DVD and BD have very good movies that are tier 0, I can show off my system with an actual good movie which even adds more to the pleasure of watching it. If its a crappy movie then its just crap.

Even if you cover a pile of crap with rose petals, its still just a stinking, festering pile of crap except now it just has rose petals all over it, it doesn't make it any nicer.

wont buy them anymore have to much crap on the shelf!
I voted no, I wont buy movies that I dont like soley on its PQ but I'd also say that titles that have good PQ that I was on the fence about have swayed me to purchase them that I might not have. Example the Convenant doesnt seem great and I wasnt gonna get it but also reading the reviews for it changed my mind and I ordered yesterday

I am more forgiving of movies at home. Sometimes I buy BDs/HD DVDs of films I had problems with in the theater and find that I appreciate them more at home, Serenity and The Descent are two examples.

As for The Wicker Man, aside from the re-re bear suit, I thought it was good. I didn't see Beerfest, but it looked kind of fun.

No, I won't buy am movie if I don't like it.

But I will rent them!

In my opinion, there seems to be an inversely proportional relationship between pq and the quality of the movie so far. MI 3 for instance has the best PQ I've seen on my PS3, but I would never want to sit through it again

It's a double edged sword, really. If we buy the crappy movies they're putting out, we send the studios the mixed message that we'll buy anything, even crap that struggled at the theater, and they keep releasing more of the same: Hitch, Ultraviolet, etc.

If we don't buy the titles, then Blu-Ray sales stagnate and they have no incentive to put out additional, better titles that we are interested in due to lack of demand.

That would have been an excellent third choice, as that's exactly what I'm doing. It takes the sting out of sitting through Ultraviolet, which is so far the worst HD movie I've seen on either format when it came to the story.

Just wondering. I'm not gonna mention any titles, but I see some very mediocre films discussed as far as superb sound and picture quality, would never buy for myself personally because they are what I consider just plain bad movies. Do any of you buy these titles just for the basis of showing off your rig?
I'm not out to bash anybody's personal tastes, but just curious.

No, but I've rented them (transformers, i robot, POTC) just to see what my TV can do.

Agreed.
i only buy the movies i like. i never buy a movie just because of the PQ. a movie might be the best looking movie ever but if i think it sucks, movie wise, then i'm not going to waste my money on it.
I used to with DVDs, but not any more. I don't want to end up with another pile of discs that I have to sell.
