Best way to calibrate on PS3?

Thread Starter
So what's currently the best way to calibrate my display with the PS3? Calibrating through Avia is completely incorrect as the result on BD's and games is too washed out.

I've heard some BD's have some sort of calibration tool included? Anyone know which ones have this? The only BD i have at the moment is The Descent and I don't think it has it.

All Sony titles (as far as I have seen) have one built in. At the main menu press Triangle (since you are on a PS3), then go to the numbers and press 7669 and it should take you to the calibration screens shortly after.

I was able to access the calibration screen by going to the main menu and pressing Triangle. I then entered "7669".

Now that I'm there, I don't know exactly how to calibrate. The test screens toggle about every 15-30 seconds. Is there a link somebody can direct me to or basically list the steps to calibrate for each screen.

Thanks

T2 has an THX Optimizer on the disc.

Check out the calibration screens in post #14 of this thread. There are about 150MB or so of test screens you can download to a USB key or flash card and run on the PS3. You could copy some or all of them to the system so you'll always have them available if needed.

There's no How-to guide for that download. Anybody can help?

calibrating is calibrating right? whether you use avia, dve, blu-ray etc, shouldnt they all be the same if indeed one knows how to calibrate correctly? i used dve through ps3 and on bravia 1080p tv and it looks awesome.............

That's assuming the video output levels use the same reference for DVD, BD and games. So it is possible that if you calibrate for DVDs the BD/game levels may be off.
