Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz

My son just got this game, but we can't figure out how to add a second player (remote) for the mini-games. There's the screen that says "All players select your monkey" (or something like that) - but pressing 1 & 2 on the second remote does nothing. Only the original 1 player remote can select a monkey and play. No problem adding extra players in Wii Sports.

Where/when do you power up the extra remotes for multiplayer?

I think you have to unlock the ability to add more players. I have the title but was considering returning it....I really barely have time to beat Zelda and this, while a great party game, isn't my type.

If I open it, I can tell you more. I'll think about it after dinner.

It should let you select a character for each Wii-mote that's connected to the Wii. You just have to sync each controller with the Wii by pressing the 'A' button on each one before it will let you select your character.

BTW we love the multi-player mini games, just be sure to stay away from the golf mini game (unless you have an entire night to throw away on a painfully slow and difficult game of monkey golf)

The controller needs to be connected before you can select monkeys and stuff, I have this game but I havent played it in a long time. I have even used controllers from another Wii that I just temp-synced using the controllers home menu.

Where can you sync up extra remotes in the Wii Main menu? If I add the 2nd remote in Wii Sports, the 2nd remote goes dark as soon as I eject the Sports DVD. I haven't found a way, outside of a game menu, that allows you to add additional remotes prior to entering a game.

I tried pressing 1 & 2 in just about every screen from the home page of the Wii through the actual start of a mini game, and it never locked in.

Permanently synch your remotes to the console by pushing the synch button on each remote and the synch button on the console. No more 1 + 2.

Is this a remote you are borrowing or a remote you own? If you own it then you have to hit the sync buttons on the remote and console to "permanently" sync them together (check the Wii manual for details). If it is a remote you are borrowing then while ingame hit the home button on the 1st remote and click on the area under the battery level to access the remote menu where you can temp-sync extra remotes (also in the Wii manual). Basically it is a good idea to read the manual, all the answers are there.

temp syncing really bites. it is annoying and you lose connection whenever the wii changes between channels/menus/etc. even if you are borrowing a friend's wiimote, just use the sync buttons. it will save you both a lot of time and hassle over trying to use the 1+2 all the time..

When you do a permanent synch does it set one the numbering of all your remotes? Remote 1 being remote 1 all the time?

Whatever remote that you turn on first after you power up the system will become the number 1 remote in my experience.

Thanks a bunch guys - had no clue you could permanently synch remotes. Working fine now.

Is anyone still playing this party game or is it dead?

I just tried it again and found that the most annoying thing is the remote is way too sensitive. This makes none of the games enjoyable as we spend a lot of time trying to calibrate the controller properly.

On the other hand I like how Rayman's controls are. It has a better feel.

We play this game. Some of the games aren't very fun... bowling is impossible to control, but Wii sports fills this. My 3 year old loves the hammer throw. I find most of the games that have you move your controller left, right, back and forth kind of like the pattern on the keyboard number pad are really hard to control.

With over 50 mini-games, there are some we really like and some we played 1 time and said forget it. One nice option would have been to let you select how many times in a row you want to play a single mini-game. Instead, you have to go back to the game menu and pick it again.

SpeedyHTPC, I was thinking about picking up Rayman, is it a fun game?

Rayman is fun but I do like the variety in Monkeyball. I've already finished Rayman and even some of the games in the higher levels are repeats or "level 2"s of the same thing. Wished there was more tracks to the music.

If you have a way to rent it, I'd say rent Rayman first. Monkeyball could of been better if the calibration wasnt so crazy..
