I received Camp Cuddly Pines Power Tool Massacre today.
Disapointed is about the only way to put it. I haven't been able to confirm it but I believe we may have found the first use of Red Laser HD-DVD in the retail market. Its 2 hrs long but it is using a 720P VC-1 encode and no sound options outside the default 5.1 and no extras. The Bottom of the Disc is goldish which makes me think DL-DVD, but the Disc (Disc 2) inscribed as a DVD-9 looks more silver like a HD-DVD or a DVD-5 so maybe my ability to discern the disc type by look is no longer as trust worthy.
Its 4 Discs (the rest are standard DVDs) but one is a sample (haven't looked at the extras or the sampler yet).
As for the Picture its soft though a lot but their are some good sharp almost 3d pop points, but either its bad make up or their seems to be a good portion of posterization and banding.
I have only played it through the Xbox add-on and not on a A1. I was also outputing 1080I on the Xbox so it might of been doing some kind of upconvert on that which might be causing what I am seeing.
This is definitely not a case like the Pirates HD (not HD-DVD) DVD it is a Real HD-DVD but I am not quite sure its worth the $50.
Its not horrible but really their is no where to go but up.
Edited the name of the thread and first sentence to include the Pines part of the title.
