Samsung 2nd generation player: 20% less expensive and more interactive features

heh, 20% less than $999 or the current price after the recently announced reduction?

Oh boy, sounds like a big cellar, uh I mean seller especially when the current player can be had for under $600.

Well this is rather peculiar news. I thought LG and Samsung shelved the dual-format thing.

Now for Samsung - is that 20% of the current retail price or 20% of what the Sammy was originally going for? I wonder. It appears they cut the retail price of the discontinued 1st gen to $799 to compete with the PS3 as the news wires are indicating. If it's 20% of that the Sammy would be a very competitive product indeed. Kudos to them if they do so.

Yep, my guess is the Samsung will go for $799.

They have been developing a hybrid player also, based on previous accounts. I guess they're hanging in a little longer to see what happens?

Come the end of next week we'll have a better idea.

I must admit they were VERY fast to follow up the LG announcement with their own "non-announcement" - shades of withdrawn announcements, Batman!
