should I return a2?

Thread Starter
I just got the a2 about two weeks ago but have been really concerned about which format will win out.

Now that it appears LG will make a duel player that will be released in the first quater of 07, it seems smarter to return my a2 and just wait a month or two for the new player.

Even if this player runs 1k, I would rather pay that and have my library secure then buy the wrong format and end up with worthless plastic if the format I choose looses.

I actually would love hd dvd to win (not a huge fan of sony or br) but since they have the content support, they do have a chance of winning this war.

Thoughts?

PS. I hate the idea of a duel format hd dvd/br that time warner is proposing.

I'd not get it. It will be a first gen player which means it may have probloms.
Is this the player with the twin disc trays 1 for HDDVD and 1 for bluray?

But I'd keep the A2 and when if the time comes get a Blu-ray player as well. But this war could last awhile so newer better players may come.

This is exactly why I thought a $400 investment is the way to go. I can enjoy my A2 in my main setup for the next 1-2 years, and then when Denon or Onkyo come out with a high end dual player (hopefully with SACD as well), the A2 can go to a secondary TV or be donated. I wouldn't be as happy about the situation if I had just bought a $1500 Pioneer BD player.

If I'm gonna wait a few months for a combo player, it ain't gonna be an LG. By the time the LG streets, there'll be something else to wait for. I'll enjoy the A2 now and if something else fun comes along, maybe I'll buy it...no biggie. My brother is all too happy to take my old stuff (it'd join my IF4805, SVS PB-10, JBL NSP-1...)

I'd love to see Oppo enter this fray...
