They are not really the same product. At least thats what supporters of the PS3 keep telling me. They say it is a much better value because it can do BR movies. If that were the case, why are the numbers the way they are? I'm not trying to bait you here. I just don't understand your logic.
Ok... I don't know what supporters of the PS3 have or have not been telling you. Do you
think they are the same product? Or are they different? IMO, they compete in the same core space.
If you don't understand my logic with my posts on the matter thus far, then I have to say I can't explain it any better. But I'll just repeat, that the PS3 sold more at launch than the 360; it is off to a better start sales-wise.
In May of 06 the 360 sold 221,000 consoles; how many will the PS3 sell in that analogous month? That's the kind of trend-watching that matters, not which console beats which console on an absolute basis. Come winter of '07, that will be the first real season that the consoles will both have appreciable games, and it will be a much better reflection of what's to come in the future... much moreso than *this* month is.
I mean 360 with it's game library vs a system launch; gimme a break, aren't people tired of setting up strawmen? PS2 outsold 360... again!
... what does it mean??? Nothing - it competes in a different circuit. Just like the 360 outselling the PS3 in December means nothing; the 360 is racing around the track, and the PS3 just started it's engine.
