Are we arguing over something thats not annouced only leaked and has a good chance of not even existing.

It's much easier to argue points when you know you can't be proven wrong.

Get the 20gb version. $499 shipped, no tax from amazon.
Amazing BD player. And if you want to play a game or two, it's right there.
We;ve been playing our free downloaded demos for weeks now and having a blast.

Yeah i think i'm going for a PS3 as a blu-ray player so i can enjoy all HD movies. Only downside is that i won't get lossless sound as i don't have a hdmi capable receiver.

My local BB has a big sign out in front of the store "60GB Playstation 3's Available". They seem to be pretty widely available around here, as the Target has the 20gb version available too.

Yup, same here. Funny thing is, saw nephew in Target (one with numerous PS3s in stock) - he was looking for a Wii. So far he has flipped two, now wants one for himself with the profits. Couldn't talk him into a PS3 - he is still buying the hype that PS3s all break and aren't any fun.
I saw one 60GB at Target sitting in the case, but that's still the only time I've seen one just sitting there.
I live in a big college town in Indiana & our Target /Walmart have had many PS3's sitting in stock for about 10 days now. I remember last year ,you could not get 360's regularly until March.

Probably because MS only shipped around 400,000 consoles to North America last January & February combined. Not sure why people keep forgetting this.
PS3 is becoming more in the norm to see them in stock...which is a good thing for people who want one...but yes I think the rush is over...now where the hell are those Wii's?

You do realize that MS also was shipping units to Europe and did a worldwide launch unlike the spineless move by Sony.

He had the PS3 and X-Box but no Wii. They recommended the Wii or X-Box.

Craig

You might want to read forums for each unit. I have the PS3 and the 360 and the 360 is much louder and runs hotter than my PS3. The Xbox 360 is known for overheating and being loud.... Take a look at any Xbox forum and you'll see countless people who are on their third unit because of the problems. Not saying the PS3 is perfect, but for people to use the excuse that it runs hot and overheats as a reason not to get it, but then recommend the 360 is laughable.

The reason to get the 360 over the PS3 (for a gamer) is the fact that it's had a year headstart and it shows when it comes to the games. Point blank.

Oh give me a break

Worldwide launches are amazingly problematic, especially when dealing with europe and all the little countries.

They were only sure they'd have enough for US and Japan, so rather than repeat Microsoft's mistake they didn't

So instead of having barely enough for one region, MS had hardly any for 3

The big problem right now for sony is that their new productions are running into the scalpers returns and making a glut.
In a way MS still only launched to two regions since they've sold so dismally in Japan. I think the PS3 outsold them there in about a month or so!

So what? Still doesn't change the fact that MS shipped only around 400,000 consoles to North America in January and February combined.

I have been looking for either Wii or PS3 in Phoenix AZ area. Bought a 60 gig ps3 at Mesa BB yesterday. Wife hates me. Hoping I would find the wii first

Phoenix area has none that I can find Fry's says they have it but then when you go they are always sold out.

oh well, got my cheap HDMI cable there instead of silly BB prices. Hooked it up to vizio 37 lcd. No probs so far. Just using it to play movies and demos.

Perverslky I will use to buy ps2 games for little kids.

Look at allll those PS3s.

Oh my god I swear if I see this picture one more time I'm gonna scream. Every anti Sony webblog and gaming site out there has this stupid picture up screaming about the "lack of demand" for PS3's. I'll give you some simple numbers for you.

End of Dec 2005 - Xbox 360 sales around 650,000

End of Dec 2006 - PS3 sales around 750,00-800,00

Sony has just done a better job at providing consoles than Microsoft did. And the Wii smokes both of them when considering launch performance.

same here but I guess I'll be due for a new reciever in a couple of years if my receiver doesn't go out any sooner. I do have the lossless sound on my TOSH HD-A1 tho. Waiting to pick up a PS3 at Costco this spring when they are collecting dust and there are some games worthy of a purchase.

You're not allowed to discount consoles. Won't happen. THey might offer some kind of bundle, but the consoles themselves would be retail
post #113 of 231
OK - but something equivalent. There were 50 dollar gift cards and free games included with the 360 this holiday season. One can only imagine something like the same later this year with the PS3. Heck - by then I may be ready for my second unit.

TRU had a $100 gift card with $399 xbox360 premium purchase the week before christmas.

people are so silly why all the 360 vs PS3 hate but I guess thats why we have so many wars around the world.

It's logical to assume that by specifically citing Costco, he was looking for discounted ones

Or a bundle with better games than could be bought now. In any event, I think both the 360 and Sony launches have been crap. Neither should have been launched with the amount of units they had available. Actually, if Sony could have pumped out more units before Xmas, they would have sold more rather than just "shipped". Bad timing.

As for console preferance, each one gives me exactly the same amount of entertainment. Neither has an advantage to me. I like Xbox live better than Sony's undercooked service. Right now the 360 has better games and will for a while. Both produce beautiful HD playback. Not much of a difference to me. Any advantages of one over the other are minimal.

Hmmm well FYI at my local Target on Saturday night at 6pm they had 7 PS3's. They had been ther since Friday AM and sold zero. No Wii's though.
