Hidden Managed Copy Website on Warner discs

Thread Starter
I'm posting this in both sections.

So I finally bought the X-box HDDVD drive to go along with my Blu-ray burner in my PC. While poking around on the Batman Begins disc I came across this URL:

http://officialcopy.warnerbros.com/hd/

And playing with the address also gives us these sites:

http://officialcopy.warnerbros.com/
http://officialcopy.warnerbros.com/bd/

So Warner plans to offer managed copy of not only HDDVD and BD but also DVD. Interesting, eh?

Can't believe no one has responded to this. Wow this is great. Warner is on top of things. I wonder if they will support both sides from Total HD

Count me as one person who could care less about copying HD media. I just want to stick the disc in and hit play.

I'm a computer geek and I know how to rip DVDs to my hard drive. Guess what? It's a pain in the butt!

I would imagine that copying five times as much data would be even more of a pain. What's the point?

I appreciate Warner for being so proactive with these new technologies - this managed copy stuff, the Total HD disc thing, and the fact that they have released more HD movies than any other studio, and in both formats. Go Warner!

I disagree making a back up of a dvd is about the easiest thing you can do. It's only about 10 steps long. I use DVD shrink and nero and almost have no problems with it. It works like a charm. I love making copies of my disks it has saved me so many times!

If I can back up my HD-DVD's that will be great!

I think MC could be used in a variety of cool ways.

HTPC

Streaming movies around the home or keeping MC version of your favorite movies instantly accessible.

Player
Storing alternate soundtracks, updated bio information, the latest trailers or the extras for a disc so that a second disc containing extras wouldn't have to be loaded.

I'd like to have a 300-400 disc jukebox changer with networking and a couple of SATA hard drive bays for just such an endeavour. The drives would be used to store the most frequently viewed content and extra stuff. The networking would allow me to send the streams to different places in the home. The player would allow me to view a physical disc while streaming a MC movie to another location. Sweeet

Hopefully we can see a working system in place within the year.

In supporting managed copy:
1. What is the role of the studios?
2. What is the role of the HD-DVD, etc., hardware manufactures?
3. What is the role of (for example) Windows Vista?
