7 Channel Amp Options

A Happy New Year to you all.

I am looking at 7 channel amp choices prior to auditioning. Budget for this component is approx $3000.

The NAD M25 seems an obvious candidate and I have a local dealer.

After a little online research I uncovered another potential candidate in the Sunfire TGA -7200.

I know relatively little about Sunfire but read a paper about the technology used in the amp. I like the idea of an amp being over-specified, never really being taxed and running cool all the time. On the surface, it might appear to be more powerful than its NAD counterpart.

Technical approach aside, the real test is listening and I doubt I will get the chance to listen to these Amps side by side. Unless there is something glaring to dislike, then I believe the choice is going to be a difficult one since I am a firm believer that it takes living with a product to genuinely identify its short comings.

Can anyone add anything about either of these products - especially the Sunfire before I begin my quest?

Many thanks,

Ash

I have a couple of its more powerful predecessors i.e. the CG Signature II's ...

IMHO they are hard to beat ...

You definitely need to post that question over in the AMP forum:

I am sure there will be plenty of opinions in that price range.

Sunfire has a history of overstatement whereas NAD has a history of understatement. If cooler running is desired, NHT's new ICE-based DSP amps are very nice and about the same price for 7-channels worth. I carried the M25 up a flight of stairs by myself and my legs were sore for a few days.
