Why won't my Panny DVDR record used DVD-RW discs?

I have a Panny E100H. I wanted to record a movie that I had recorded on the hard drive off of cable, to a DVD-RW disc so my wife could watch it on her DVDR. The movie was "The March of the Penguins" that was shown on a regular TV station via analog cable. We don't have a cable box.

I tried 3 DVD-RW discs that had been recorded on previously using my NEC burner on my PC. Two of the discs had been quick erased and one had been full erased. The E100H would not even recognize any of the 3 discs. I was able to record the movie to a DVD-RAM disc.

Any ideas?

Simple, E100 does not RECORD to DVD-RW (though it will play DVD-RW discs in both VIDEO and VR mode). Panny did not incorporate DVD-RW RECORDING in its HDD/DVDR recorders until the 2005 EH50 model.

1995? Wow they've been around longer than I thought. Where have I been all these years?

Darn, guess I owned the E100 too long and forgot that it doesn't record to DVD-RW. Thanks for that info...... gotta go buy some more DVD-RAM discs,

I think you meant that the EH-50 was a 2005 model.

Another option would be DVD-R discs.

I bought the EH50 as soon as it came out, and it sure doesn't seem like I've had it that long. Boy time really does fly!

Yeah, yeah, I know. It's been beat to death. Sorry...

I think it is because of the new year. I've had a hard time remembering to write 2003 on any checks I write.

Yup but I want to use eraseable discs just to let the wife watch some programs I recorded on my E100H that she didn't see. Then erase and keep resusing since we don't want to keep the programs.

Thanks,
Skylark

Then I guess a new DVDR is in store for you....although you could buy a lot of DVD-R discs for the price of a new recorder

Or find a nice Panny DVD Player (used or new) that will handle DVD-RAM discs.

I have the same issue with my E80H.

Broken record: Panasonic please add DVD-RW(VR) support in your recorders :-)

Wife has a Panny EH50 in the bedroom and the DVD player in the living room is a Panny S29 right below my E100H. Yes, we are DVD-RAM compatible.
