Linksys WRT54G dropping connection?

Just switched from my old Netgear(low signal issues, but still worked) to a Lynksys WRGT54G. The problem I have is, when I play Madded online I lose the connection as soon as the players come through the tunnel to begin the game. Everything else works fine. I can use the browser, I can go to the playstation store and download demos without any problems. Is there something I need to set in router settings in order to allow for online game play? Thanks in advance for any help.

Update it to the latest Firmware if you haven't already. I had similar problems with mine. I wasn't sure if it was the router or just interference with the wireless signal in general.

I have the Netgear Pre-N Gigabit wireless router (can't think of the model number now).
I have had problems since day one even with upgraded firmware.
I get "disconnected from the access point" every five minutes during games.
Every other wireless device in my system is rock solid, including the Xbox 360 next to it.

I have tried every trick, including turning off SSID broadcast and WEP, same results.

Now, what is wierd, once I am connected to a multiplayer game or downloading from the store, I don't get bounced.

I think when it is doing nothing, it is constantly polling the wireless router, something doesn't jive and it disconnects itself.

same hear, when I connect to something or play wirelessly I'm golden, if I'm offline, the PS3 keeps disconeccting/reconnecting,
all pcs and psp in my house are free of this issue, so just the ps3,
my trick for this is to unplug the router and the cable modem and then plug them back in (reboot the power) then I reconnect to the PS3 and no londer see a problem until the next time I turn on the PS3

I have the same router as you WRT54G (version 1.1) and I dont have any problems with online play. If you can, try connecting the PS directly to the modem and see if you have the problem disconnecting. If the problem is gone, I would do like suggested and update your router with the newest Linksys firmware. If you still have the problem, I would suggest looking into some other firmware (HyperWrt, DD-WRT, etc..).
