When I called Emo for an amp after selling my Rotel they told me the XPA line has much more grunt to it than the UPA line. Much more than you see just looking at the specs on paper. I went XPA because even though I have efficient speakers I wanted to make sure I didn't look back and wish I'd had opted for more. More is always better, right?

So I'd stick with the XPA line, and if you want a 7 channel then wait for the XPA-7 to be released. Just my advice, but I agree with what you've said about adding power to Klipsch does seem to make them sound even better!

Yeah i went with the UPA-7 due the sale & the high rating that they just got on that amp .. 30 days & then I'll deceid was thinking XPA 5 but the #'s don;t add up on that over a XPA-3 . i might just end up with 3 XPA-3's if the UPA-7 don't work out
price wise that's the best bang for buck
as the XPA-5 uses the same power supply as a XPA-3 soo that in it's self is what don't seem right to me But what do i know I'm still learning here but the cleaner the signal the better it sounds ...

emo's page has the upa-7 on closeout.

Are they no longer selling it after this year or just getting rid of the current upa7 models for the next upa7

Have you got the upa-7 yet ? its been a while since your order and havent heard your personal reveiw yet If your concerned abpout the power supply on the xpa-3 and xpa-5 just look at the power ratings and compare it to the upa-7 ; ) and if that doesnt do it step up to the XPA-2 FTW : )

they say they just don't sell enuff of them to make any cash
it highly rated & the Pro-installers love the 7 channels for the custom installs

seems everyone is buying the XPA-5 or XPA-3 are the enthusiast crowd like us !

i gonna test ride it & if I don;t feel it's best then i'll return it soon OR keep it till I can afford the XPA's
@ that price it's worth trying it out anyway ...

emo talks that in the webcast & they also said that over the phone with one of their techs ... we will see . as i said it's just temp (UPA-7) anyway ,I want 9 channels the 5008 will pre-out 9 soo that's what i want even power across the board as the speakers are very well matched now
post #11140 of 16068

Still think you could of used the XPA-3 or XPA-5 to power your front stage and your more then able 5008 to power the rest But if its just your budget I can understand your rush to get something and not wait but it looks like you had to wait anyway No worries though soon you'll be in Emo heaven

Very good point !!
I used my XPA-3 to power my front stage and the 876 to power my surrounds. I sold the 3 and bought the b stock XPA-5.
I wanna say the XPA-3 b stock was $599 when I called.

Yeah that's what i'm counting on if & when i go 3 XPA-3's everything will be matched
don't get me wrong as everything sounds great with the 5008 Right Now !
If I step-up i want even across the board power
UPA does 7 channels @ 125w that leaves 2 channels for 5008 @ 145w
see what I mean ?
I don't think I'll have any problem selling the UPA-7 months down the road anyway when I can better afford the XPA-3's x 3

I am delighted with my XPA-3/5007 combination. With my difficult low-efficiency 4 ohm speakers it has made a substantial improvement to the headroom. It now sounds effortless no matter what the source. The 5007 seems more than capable of running my Height and Surround channels.

Kind Regards,

Keith

I really doubt that there are very many pro-installers at all using Emotiva amps, or anything else made by Emotiva.
