My XPA5 shipped this week and my XPA2 will ship next week. I can't wait to hook them up to my Onkyo pro 885.

DiCecco, I believe you are going to find the XPA series something special. I've had the XPA-5 for 4 months, my Klipsch Legend series speakers never sounded better. The XPA-2 looks to be exceptional when powering the fronts. I fully intend on going with this 2 channel power amp when I make the move to 7.1.

You could run a Klipsch speaker on a 12 watt Amp.. JK! I am leaning towards the XPA series, but the LPA-1 specs are also good, especially for the money.

The reason I went with the XPA2 and XPA5 instead of the MPS-2 is that I have Salk HT2's for fronts and they like power. Lonnie at Emotiva told me the XPA2 when tested put out 560 watts at 4 ohms 60 more then the spec. My HT2's are 4 ohm. I have a ASI modified OPPO 980 coming which will be my 2 channel transport. I can't wait to get it all on line.

Yeah, sorry the LPA-1, 125x5 is fine since Im running 5.1 so I guess there is no need to spend the extra $$$, assuming for 5 channels output and SQ are the same for both the UPA-7 and LPA-1.

That price for the LPA-1 just seems too good when I saw it yesterday!!

Garman, You're definitely right on the nominal wattage requirements, I tried it with an old Realistic amp. On a serious note, my XPA-5 replaced a THX Certified Carver AV-705x power amp(5x125w/ch), and the difference especially on the soundstage was very noticable. I guess the more clean power fed to my Klipsch Legends, the better they sound.

The sounds quality will be the same for both models. Basically the UPA-7 could be considered the more complete version of the LPA-1 by fully powering those last two channels.

And yes the LPA-1 would most likely be the best choice if your only looking for 5.1 anyway. Its one hell of an amp. Buy them why you can, similar situations happened with the IPS-1 and BPA-1 when they went closeout, people waited around a little while to decide and "poof" they were all gone.

I am in a similar situation, only running 5.1 right now I will be going to 7.1 system soon. I have 3 extra Amps laying around, so that isn't going to be an issue considering I have a Marantz M-700 and a NAD S-250 5 channel Amp. No need most likely buy the LPA-1, but for the price I wouldn't mind it along with there new pre/pro, especially at the price they have.

So right now LPA-1 is out of stock, I guess I wont be getting it after all??

My XPA-2 ships next week.
FINALLY, I will have an amp that can drive my monster Cerwin-Vegas in a 2 channel setup.

Have the MPS-1 in the theater room pushing THX M&Ks in a 7.1 configuration.
Love this amp...good, clean power.

penngray, If I were you and you really want an LPA-1, give Emotiva a call and I bet Cathy, Jennifer or Chris over at their offices could set you up with a B-Stock LPA-1, or at the very least put you on a list when they come available as they usually do when they stop making a model.

hmmm, maybe they will have a sale on the XPA-5 then... Or there XPA-3

I doubt they're going to put any of their XPA series amps on sales for a while, but you never know. Right now they have free shipping on everything through July 15th.

It is not unnoticed that the small American companies are last with new technology such as HDMI.
I do love the "completely integrated bass manager for 2.1 operation with selectable frequency stereo high pass and mono low pass outputs" of the RSP-1 stereo preamplifier.
Now keep that same concept while dropping all the RCA analog inputs and add in HDMI. HDMI thru-puts and XLR high and low pass outputs would be heaven and blow the barn-doors off of ridiculously priced products from companies like Krell and Meridian.

Anyone heard any news about the RPA-2 & RSP-2? Last I heard was late August...

I think I just scooped the last LPA-1 in B-stock Very happy owner, now I need to decide if I want the XPA-5 for another room!!!

that's cool i called first thing monday morning and cathy the sales lady said i got the last new LPA-1, i'm super stoked i've never owned a power amp for my mids and highs, thanks to everyone on here for the information i would have never known about this company if it wasn't for this forum

penngray, I knew Cathy and the rest of the Emotiva Crew would take care of you. "Mather", is correct, take care lifting your Emotiva beast. My XPA-5 is even heavier than your LPA-1, so I speak from experience.

An XPA-5 arrived at my house late this afternoon. At first, I thought I was just going to send it back. But, whoa! You want to talk about a unified full deep movie theater sound! This baby packs some punch. I had been watching season 2 of Star Gate Atlantis for a couple of weeks now, and after hooking up the XPA-5, the audio experience is everything that I hoped for. I'm using an old Denon 3802 hooked to the XPA-5, and I can't tell where one sound field from the front left, center, and right speakers begins, and the other ends. The Emotiva has unified them all. I'm going to take a few days and just do some very critical listening, but I don't think this unit is going back. My ears like it way too much.

The LPA-1 arrived today, 90+lbs....OMG!!!!

Im still interested in the XPA-5 or XPA-3, I need something in the 250 to 400 Watts range to drive some mid-bass speakers in an active crossover setup. Im building three 12" speakers that will be paired up with my Emotiva ERM-1s. I will crossover at 350Hz...

the 12" boxes handle 80Hz to 350Hz and the ERM-1s will handle above....its a fun experiment for more mid range SPL.

Just got an LPA-1 to hook up with my Denon AVP-A1HD, and its simply amazing!

LPA-1 is a freaking monster!!!

Well I received my XPA2 yesterday and put it on line with XPA5. This is one heavy amp .I put a pillow on top of it in the box then flipped the box over to get it out of the box without destroying the box. I am glad it is on the floor between my front speakers and not in my rack. The XPA5 is in the rack.I am using the Onkyo pro 885 pre-amp with the two amps. I only got to listen to it for about 2 hours . Both amps have no hum, at all. I turned the volume up all the way with no source and could not hear a thing from any speaker. I played John Mayer blu-ray and was quit impressed with the sound. My Salk center channel shipped today so next week I will finally have my system where I want it for now. It should match my Salk HT2's . I will report more after I get my new center speaker. Anyone who buys an XPA2 or XPA5 be careful getting them out of the box . They are heavy and solid like a tank. My 885 has three triggers and I have the amps wired to the triggers and they work properly. I have the XPA5 on a second delay and the XPA2 on 3 second delay. So far everything is working the way it should. After pushing both amps at around 98db for John Mayer both were only a little warm to the touch. They run very cool . I was surprised how they were just warm to the touch.

I am thinking about getting either one of these amps but not sure which one. I will be running Era speakers with them that are power hungry. Effeciencies range from 83 to 87 with nom ohms between 8-5. I am running a 5.1 system so 7 channels not realy needed. If I need I can run the backs in the future from the receiver. My questions is the watt ratings on the speakers is 50 - 150. Is there a worthy benefit to XPA 5 over the UPA 7. It will be used mostly for movies but I would like music to sound good as well. Any suggestions. Also would the XPA 5 watt rating be too much for these speakers?

No it will not be to much at all. The XPA-5 will give you headroom, headroom, headroom! If you want to have the biggest balls on the block, get the XPA-2 and XPA-3

I got my XPA-3 in today. This thing is one hell of a piece of equipment and boy oh boy does it have power!!! I love this amp!
