EMOTIVA Thread Q&A [TECHNICAL TALK ONLY] - Page 56

And sadly all of those issues have been solved by a simple firmware update. Which reminds me, how easy will it be to update the new Emotivas?

It's alright Kosha, you had a good question. If the Emotiva pre/pros were out we would be able to discuss them with the Emotiva AMPs. If I am asked a question I will answer it no matter what thread I am in. That is not being a fanboy, it is being considerate of your fellow AVS member.

By the USB port and I would hazzard to guess by D/Ling the new firmware to a USB thumb drive. I didnt know firmware updates fixed bad customer service and heating issues

I got a much more useful response from Joerod. Thanks.
I will come back to this thread once UMC/XMC's are out.

Whatever

Sorry to burst your bubble, not all owners have the problems you may have had with Onkyo

Rant over...

Yeah they were comparing a $1800 onkyo 885 to a $700 Emotiva. I wouldnt own an onkyo. I wouldnt own another pioneer either.

(1) Onkyo 906 and
(2) Onkyo 886P with XPA-5 (MPS-2 will be too expensive)
I know none of the '6 models are out yet. Please advise based on your experiences on Onkyo '5 models.

By the way, I have M&K THX 5.1 speaker setup.

Where is the comparison to a $700 Emotiva? Just curious.

Guys (and gals) this is getting pretty stupid. If we look back in this thread we were discussing Onkyo and Emotiva AMPs a long time ago. Nothing has changed. There are not any new Emotiva pre/pros out yet. Calm down. We can discuss the weather if that would make you feel better. We may get a storm here tonite.

Hell, even on the EMOTIVA forum we have discussed using an onkyo receiver or pre/pro with their AMPs. They have never once complained or cared. In fact, they even took part in the discussions. Also, they even tested an Onkyo 905 for me with one of their AMPs when I had a hook up question...

BTW, never had a single issue with overheating. Properly vented cabinets or racks will definitely help.

How can you have a motive against a pro. that doesnt even exist except on paper yet?

And they already addressed awhile back that firmware update issues would be easily fixed with USB drives on all their newer pro's.
Again, the point was when they release their new pre/pro (emotiva) I would gladly do a comparison. You guys are much to sensitive here. Geez...
So since you are acting like they are already out does anyone have an ETA?

Nothing definite yet but IIRC I remember reading something about late September. It sucks they missed their June deadline but that was due to Cirrus as I am sure you know. As long as its out before the end of the year and bug free I will be happy. And the weather was nice here today except now the afternoon thunder storms are rolling in
post #1664 of 16068
Thanks for the update. On both the Emotiva pre/pro and the weather.
spoke to technical support today regarding another issue asked about the the new pre/pro and the response was basically hoping for a x-mas release. At least will then be able to compare with the long awaited new Outlaw pro that also has that time frame
post #1666 of 16068
Well lets talk about Denon's or Yahama because there are no emotive pre/pros???

This is an Emotiva owners thread and we should not be just picking whatever product to argue about. Create a thread if you want to compare Emotiva to Onkyo.

This should stay on topic no matter what is released or not released. How hard is that for people to understand?

No more product wars...owners threads should be strictly owner threads.

not sensitive at all. I do not read the Emotiva owners thread to read how you love your Onkyo and I do not want to search 3 to 4 pages to get past the debate....Those debates are always for separate threads.

Im here to read info on anything Emotiva, everything else just becomes noise.
I got news for you. We were discussing Emotiva AMPs. I own the MPS-2 and now that I won't be able to pair it with an EMotiva pre/pro until Christmas what else is there? Face the facts, the MPS-2 needs something to send it the sound processing. It just so happens I have an Onkyo 885 PRO hooked up this week. ANd did you read my prior post? Even Emotiva has a 905 there which they were using to help troubleshoot. And again there are plenty of Onkyo (or other brand) discussions which pertain to using their AMPs. Just put me on your IGNORE list then. I am not backing out of here because I have a different brand pre/pro. It's not my fault they don't have a pre/pro out and most likely won't until the end of the year... BTW, the storm passed over us!
If you want 100% Emotiva I suggest you go over to their designated forum. Of course you may be upset when you read about other brands of pre/pros that other NONsensitve owners are currently using. HT does not stop just because one company has a particular product delay... The show must go on and it will now with my 885 PRO (or 886) until Christmas now...
I have the Onkyo Pro 885 paired with a XPA2 and a XPA5 driving Salk Signature sound HT2's for fronts and Salk Veracity Center channel with Swann Surrounds and back , and an Epic Tower sub. I could not be happier with the sound my system is producing. For 2 channel sound I put the Onkyo 885 in pure audio mode and use the XPA2 driving my fronts. The sound is so good I had to put my ear up to my center to make sure no sound was coming out of it. Voices are right in the middle of the sound stage. Jerrod do you use pure audio for 2 channel listening? I use to use multi channel till I got the HT2's and the XPA2 now i only use pure audio 2 channel.
Just be careful using the "O" word. Yes, I do like Pure for 2 channel.

Thanks for respect the wishes of others.

I do not ignore people (I think that is a weak minded and wimpy thing to do), you also do not bother me that much because I do not mind any debate but you thinking everyone should agree with you on the Onkyo being great is just annoying. There is simply no proof that the Onyko is the best Pre/pro solution but you are posting like it is. I do not mind specs being posted but can we atleast agree that your posts are extremely subjective and room, speakers, amps, etc all matter in the overall equation of how your system sounds. Meaning we are not you and we all have different setups and tastes. Im happy you love your system but do you need 20+ posts to tell us so?

BTW, Im in the flooded state called Florida
post #1673 of 16068
Well should I buy another pre/pro to use with my MPS-2 then? What should I use to make sound until Christmas? I am sorry if you can't find the pre/pro to make you happy and the one you think may do it is now delayed (again). I am very happy with my 885 PRO and doubt it could get any better. And the MPS-2 is a BIG reason why.

How about a Yamaha 663? I hear they are pretty cheap but of good quality. And I got thunder no rain. Thank god. Florida here also and after 20" of rain I have had enough. Got to mow the grass today too

Im not disappointed, I just like reading info on it...I have lots of goodies to test and buy period....

I own a Denon 3805, Yammy 663, Emotiva LMC-1, Pioneer 1018, I have ordered the Denon 2809 and I will order the XMC-1 and maybe a XPA-5 (and sell my Sunfire)

I have lots of choices and lots of testing to do.

Interesting side test. The Sunfire TGA5400 vs the LPA-1 vs QSC 1850HD ....it will be one hell of a work out!!! The QSC and the LPA-1 are heavy freaking bitches!!! the TGA5400 has the most power (400W/ch x 5 or 800W/ch into 4 ohms!!) and its the lightest amp

How about a Yamaha 663?

Its the best $$$/performer With a great external amp, currently the Sunfire amp. Its a solid AVR.....the LMC-1 has nothing on it, the Denon 3805 didnt sound better either.

I believe everything is in the amp.

Right now my 663 is in my brand new HT room and Im loving every movie.
But if the yamaha is so good then why the new Emotiva? Seriously.

IMO it seems like you two like to buy and test audio equipment and do comparisons and not speaking for Penngray but I bet he buys it to compare to other equipment he owns. I am not saying there is anything wrong with buying different pieces of audio gear in fact maybe I can get some good deals from 1 of you. Maybe I should cancel my pre order and buy the UMC 1 from one of you after your done testing it

Got an XPA 5 you want to get rid of cheap?
Sorry, I went straight to the MPS-2 after getting the LPA-7. I would have got the MPS-2 first but it was out of stock. I know it was a lot but I figure you really only need to buy an AMP once. You are right. I just love testing new AV equipment. I also do some BETA testing for a few companies out there...

Yeah thats what I had heard about it. From what I can gleen from different forums alot of people are using it as a stop gap til the new pre/pro is released that they want to buy. Heck I might even buy one to try it out. Seeing as how I sold my Marantz 7001 to a buddy because I believed the release date for the UMC 1. Wont let that happen again
