It's even worse than false promises IMO. A couple of weeks back they said the delay on the XMC-1 until March was so that they could bring out a HDMI 2.0 version. Now, they say that they are bringing out a HDMI 1.4b version - but the date is still March. Makes no sense. If they already have a HDMI 1.4b version then the 'reason' for delaying it until March has evaporated now they are saying that they will not have a HDMI 2,0 version anyway. So why not just release it now? Something doesn’t smell right.
This, of course, also ignores the point that an organisation making what they say is a bleeding edge processor apparently struggle to differentiate between HDMI 1.4b and HDMI 2.0, at least according to 'Big' Dan:
"When we changed to the new high performance, 4k compatable <sic> ADV7625 HDMI mux's, we believed that we could legitimately claim HDMI 2.0 capability. However, after carefully reviewing the final specifications of the parts, and just as importantly deciphering what can and can not legitimately be called HDMI 2.0, we believe it is technically correct and responsible to state that the XMC-1 is HDMI v1.4b compliant."
Am I alone in finding that a little disturbing?
As Bill (Mac) said a while back - the thread title of the other XMC-1 thread needs changing. "Emotiva XMC-1 World's First HDMI 2.0 Pre/Pro". A simple addition of 'not' would do it ;)
