GT-HD Demo glitch-Anybody else see it?

I'm not sure if it's actually a glitch or not, but I couldn't think of anything else to call it...

When driving through the tunneled section of the track, I can see a perfectly rectangular box that is significantly brighter than the rest of the tunnel. It looks like it is meant to represent the opening at the end of the tunnel and the way the light from the sun would flood in and cause your eyes to adjust.

However, this "box of light" is visible even before you round the curve enough to actually see the tunnel's end.

I'm wondering if I've tuned something on my TV way wrong (Sony SXRD 60A2000 over HDMI) or if it's inherent to the Demo itself. At first, I thought this was happening because I was experimenting with the Detail Enhancer function of the SXRD, but it was still noticeable when set to "Off." Unfortunately, I can't remember ever seeing it before so now I'm wondering if it was always there and I never noticed it, or I changed something!

Anybody else see what I'm describing?

Are you sure that what you're seeing before rounding the corner (through the wall apparently?) isn't another lighting effect from the light source behind the mountains? Once the end of the tunnel is in view, the box of light is an intentional effect and a result of HDR lighting as far as I know. It's actually quite realistic and is indeed meant to simulate the way eyes adjust to the light levels.

I don't see it through the wall, it is always fixed equidistant in front of the car and follows the exact path of the roadway. It never changes in size or shape, just looking like an oddly perfect rectangle of light effect on the roadway, tunnel walls, and ceiling but occuring much too soon before the end of the tunnel (source of the light).

Hmmm. Ok I see what you're saying. I didn't notice that but I'll look for it next time I play.

I dont know if thats a glitch or what but i know if you download on the hongkong server there is now a v1.1 update for GTHD. But if you cant read japanese? chinese? then stick with the us version. It only fixes what it called a rare glitch anyway....

The GTHD demo is just a demo anyhow...really more of a tech demo. Like the massive light-flare when you come out of the tunnel that disappears within like 1/2 a second, which is totally unrealistic...and doesn't look good at all.

I dunno, I played the demo about 4 times...unlocked 4 cars....meh...not finding the fun

Well, the light flare I understand. Just like Felgar & I were discussing previously, it is supposed to simulate the sudden iris contraction a driver would experience going from a low-lit tunnel to the bright sunshine at high speed. I don't think that is terribly unrealistic and will probably be much more dramatic (and authentic) when the full version is released with an in car view.

What I find particularly realistic with that scene is the dark section of the tunnel. The way it appears quite dark fom a distance but then lightens as soon as you enter and eyes adjust, is very realistic IMO. That's the sort of thing that a good HDR implementation can give you. Clearly some tweaking is needed but the tech behind it is great.

Yes, now that I think about it....the effect would probably seem more correct to me if I had a cockpit around me. Right now it seems to flash in and fade out too quickly, like it needs to linger another 1/2 second more.....

But I could just be accustomed to overly-lit games on the 360 right now.....
