The BIG Question... Will the RS1 pre-orders arrive before the Super Bowl?

I would love to have my pre-order set up and running for the Super Bowl. What you you think the chances are of this arriving before the big game?

More likely that pigs will fly...sorry!

Too bad . Chances were pretty slim anyways.

Wow, just looked out my window and saw a flock (gaggle) of pigs flying by. I hope that's a good sign!

If you didn't care what happened to me,
And I didn't care for you
We would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain
Occasionally glancing up through the rain
Wondering which of the buggers to blame
And watching for pigs on the wing.

I have my Pearl all set up, but I am looking for a HD source for the Superbowl. I am a big fan, and have hosted big screen viewings with my friends for the last 10 years. A change to HD would be awesome.

I live in Denmark, so any ideas how I might be able to watch it in HD?

I like the way you think!

Let's only hope.

Cheers!

Now did you really mean to say pigskins?

I personally hope JVC takes their time getting the orders out the door... I'd rather not find bugs because they rushed things.

That was classic!

JVC needs a little more time to let the hype build up a bit before releasing this pj.

In the same vain as William being called lame for his refusal to give an initial impression, I just have to say this post is lame! It implies knowledge of at least the earliest that the RS1 will ship. So what is it? Or was it just a joke?

Jason,

I have said all along (since CEDIA in Sept), in various threads, that the ship date is mid-February, wishful thinking will not make it appear sooner. Anyone on the pre-buy list should be fully aware of the ship date...I suppose this does not include you? If and when I have new info to share, I will most certainly do so.

There may have been some humo(u)r in my reply (possibly lost on you since you found it lame), but it was certainly not a joke.

Cheers,

Hey! I'm on that list and didn't get a ship date but was told sometime in Feb.
I now feel alone in the dark. Is this my penance for being last on the list?

You know that I care what happens to you,
And I know that you care for me.
So I don't feel alone,
Or the weight of the stone,
Now that I've found somewhere safe
To bury my bone.
And any fool knows a dog needs a home,
A shelter from pigs on the wing.

Why do I suddenly have the urge to pull out my Animals CD?
Well, considering that apparently they couldn't get one "QC" yet like they wanted and sent to Jason, I'm not sure why anyone would think they'd ship early. Sounds more like it might be later. I mean that post way back when saying he was told for sure has turned into quite awhile.

Course if he has one and just hiding, then I'm sure he will let everyone know...

But maybe William will come back and say more later, if everyone makes sure to just use praise while talking.. lol..

I hoping it is later rather than sooner. I want to see some good reviews from production models. I am on the pre buy list but still on the fence
What is the warrenty, and dead pixel policy from JVC

You do know who tstites is don't you? If anybody has any knowledge of any aspects of the RS1 it is Tom. He is after all a JVC employee.

Cheers,

I am on the preorder list and did not know about mid February. I don't recall reading that. People have been counting down to February for the past two months, not to mid February. Since you probably get to play with this machine every day you might not understand how excited people are to get theirs. I have a huge stack of HD DVD's waiting for the arrival. i've been telling myself "not much longer." Now that time has almost doubled. If you do get a firm date, please share it with us. The uncetainty makes it harder. Thanks for your participation.

Well, having been on the forum long enough to see companies release projectors with little fanfare to others with months of pre release hype only to keep promising ship dates in a couple of weeks, to others that meet their target dates.

Personally, I've enjoyed my setup for six years; hey what's another couple of months?

What I liked about Mac's question, was he was thinking like a marketer. There are more TVs sold before Super Bowl than at any other time of the year. Makes a good release target.

Tom has the inside track at JVC and his response tempers our hopes of early release.

As others have commented and I would have to agree with this sentiment:

Orsen Welles onced pitched this tagline back in the Seventies... : "At Paul Mason, we will sell no wine before its time."

It sounds like JVC follows that credo.

Steve, I sure hope the RS1 is more like Opus One than Paul Mason.

I'll drink to that!

Whoa! You have been a member here since 2003, and this is your outlook? As others have said, we have seen numerous companies, on numerous occassions, fail to meet their initial estimate for release of a new projector by MANY months. Delay after delay after delay.

Nobody here, from JVC or AVS, ever said anything about "February 1", or even "first week in February". The statement from JVC was "first quarter 2007". That takes you to the end of March, first of April.

What are you talking about when you say "Now that time has almost doubled"? What time?

People who have been on this forum should surely expect delays when a new pj is released. The funny thing is that the JVC hasn't even been delayed yet, and people are already complaining about it!
There is no delay. "February" means February. Remember these things take time. I have to figure its at least a couple weeks from the time a unit comes of the assembly line, gets QCed, distributed and then has to clear customs to get to the US. And as far as I know its not even in mass production yet.

I appreciate Tom sharing with us that we are probably looking at "Mid February", as I had been wondering whether it would be early, mid or late February. Now we have a better idea, and of course its subject to change.

I second that...how many other companies are out there that would come here and say - listen...it's not likely guys, sorry. None that I've had any experience with. We should be lucky that we at least have as much information as we do. It'll come - Patience is, as they say, a virtue

Need a little patience, yeah
Just a little patience, yeah
Some more pati... (ence, yeah)
I've been walking these streets at night
Just trying to get it right (Need some patience, yeah)
It's hard to see with so many around
You know I don't like being stuck in a crowd (Could use some patience, yeah)
And the streets don't change but maybe the name
I ain't got time for the game
'Cause I need you (Patience, yeah)
Yeah, yeah well I need you
Oh, I need you (Take some patience)
Whoa, I need you (Just a little patience is all we need)

Some of us cut our teeth in the 'waiting game' when we pre-ordered a Panamorph.

9 Months, if I remember correctly. With rumors flying about the company or subcontractors skating off with our money. That was doing 'hard time'.

Compared to that, I'm sure the wait for my RS1 will be easy.
