Only downside is the high shipping cost. Regardless, a nice find

I bet they would haggle if you emailed them. I find in life, everyone will haggle if you ask.

If you live in the midwest, check out abc wherehouse.

If you can find one at Best Buy they are $299 or $275 for open box.

If the price was basically the same would you buy the HD-A1 or A2 and why?

XA1's prices are dropping very low as well. Both are excellent values.

Yep, if you don't mind the slow starup time of the A1/Xa1 their are some great deals to find. Also the A1 has 5.1 analog out and the A2 does not. That's why I kept my A1 rather then upgrading. Got my A1 new from BB for $399, BB was out within 3 days, at which point no more came till the A2s. So I got lucky, I was looking for the xbox add on. But could not find it so I figured the A1 is a lot better.. An I think it is overall...

But really the load times are like 1 minnite from a cold start so not bad at all, well worth it when that amazing PQ/AQ is going..

I got mine for $295 shipped new-in-box on eBay about 2 months ago... right now I'm wishing I could trade with someone for a D1 because the silver really doesn't match my new Elite 82TXs receiver.

I just got one at the local Frys for $359. There seemed to be at least a few other units in stock.

Best Buy had a display model A-1 for $299 plus a free $60 gift card (net $240). But I am holding out for an A3 without the bugs for $200 list or $150 street. Should be here by this time next year, though it may not have a Toshiba name on it.

Where can I get an HD-A1 on sale. I called my local best buys and none of them have it! Online maybe? Without crazy shipping cost.

B&H is AWESOME. I have bought about $30k worth of stuff from them in the past 5 years. Just bought an XA1 from them on Monday, arrived yesterday - $459 - The A1 is $419 I believe. B&H is a trusted HUGE HUGE HUGE store in NY and their rep is superb. They are mainly a photo dealer but sell electronics as well.

Its not $299 but still a great deal for these great players.

I was hoping to score it for $299. I was going to upgrade from my 360 addon to the upconverting over HDMI, HDA1. Guess I'll have to wait until I get a TV with a VGA port. Thanks anyways, but $299 is my limit with the 360 addon doing so good.
