JVC System Specific Subwoofer

Thread Starter
I made the mistake of purchasing a JVC home theater in a box that has a system specific (I assume) cable that runs from the receiver to the subwoofer, and all of the other speakers connect to the subwoofer. I would like to purchase a higher end Sony A/V receiver, but am afraid that means I would also have to buy a new subwoofer. If I find which two pins are for the subwoofer would it work if I spliced a cable? Does anyone know where I could find which two pins are for the subwoofer? Or should I just give in and buy a new subwoofer as well? Thanks.

I'm afraid you will have to buy a new subwoofer along with your receiver. The reason is that this HTIB's amplifiers for all channels are hidden in the sub and tampering with the wires won't do any good. Unfortunately this is the way most of dvd+receiver integrated systems are built like this.
