I think what he meant was an Unrated Blu-Ray release for Saw I. The current release is only the R-rated theatrical version with (slightly) less violence and an alternate soundtrack, though it looks like for both Saw II and III we'll have dual releases for the theatrical and unrated cuts.
First film was a likable blend of familiar elements (Suspiria and Se7en meet Hannibal, give or take...), second film had a much wider scope and was far more intense, but wasn't nearly as smart or likable, and the third film managed to take the better elements from both films before it, but didn't end in a way that seemed to fit the characters established before it. If you've seen all three of them, you'll know what I mean. I'll continue to watch them until they turn in to unwatchable dreck, like every other big horror franchise seems to.
We'll get a box set once people stop showing up... it took 6 films to kill off Freddy, 9 for Jason (5 after "the final chapter"), 8 movies in Michael Meyers' series but only 7 of which actually featured him, 8 before Pinhead gets remade, and Chucky only managed to squeeze 5 out in total, with poor Leatherface getting 4 outings before the remake treatment (assuming Leatherface and Return Of weren't remakes to begin with)...
How long will Jigsaw's legacy hold out before the franchise dies or gets an expensive remake? Taking all bets, from "gets 1 more and a direct to video prequel" to "8 and a TV series"!
