I have a B&K AVP 4090 Pre/pro that is dying, won't stay latched onto a DD or DTS signal and makes loud popping sounds and then disengages the signal. My 5 Channel AV5000 amplifier still is good.
I have been considering a Rotel system for a while now and today was the first time I went to a dealer to check them out.
The sales guy recommended the brand new RSP-1572. That looks like a really nice Pre-Pro and has all the latest sound decoding that I have not been able to enjoy!
I have B&W 805 Nautilus speakers and matching center and dipole surrounds. He suggested the RSP-1572 would be very well matched and if I wanted to use the Rotel RMB-1565 5 channel amplifier, I'd really be able to fully enjoy the speakers.
I am a decade behind the times in terms of processing and decoding and the use of HDMI. So I am a babe in the woods. I do have a blu rays player that is connected directly to the monitor. So what I'll likely do is move the blu ray into the rack with the Rotel and connect there and have one HDMI go to the monitor. I had preferred to have one HDMI to the monitor. But I'm willing to give this set-up a try.
So can you guys give me a sense of what I'm in for or give me your thoights if I go with the Rotel Pre-Pro and amp models I described above? From all I have read, which is very little, I am guessing I cannot go wrong with Rotel. I have not found any reviews of the 1572.
My main usage is movie playback and music. I'll probably play around with an iPod attached too.
I have not looked at other makes. I had thought of NAD, but my sense is the Rotel might be more to my taste. I have not actually listened to a Rotel system. So I should probably do that.
