Slimline dish support arms?

I just had the upgrade to the 5LNB Slimline dish. They did a standard wall mount as I requested to replace my wall mounted 3LNB dish. They did not install any support arms. My neighbor's slimline installation is a corner mount and has a single support arm.

BTW, they had no issue with removing my 3LNB dish as some have said on these forums...

I know the AT9 dish has two support arms on a wall mount, should the Slimline dish have any additional support arms?

The monopoles are optional on both dishes, neither the AT-9 or the Slimline come with them in the box. If the dish stays put the way it is, there is no need for the monopoles.

I just had a slimline installed, works good. I went into the setup to change to 5 lnb and can not find where to do it. It still shows 3 lmbs. I have 2 HR20s. Need help please.

Menu/help and settings/setup/sat and antenna/repeat satellite setup ought to let you change from 3LNB to 5LNB. I did that way back when.

Thanks Pat.

I have two-monopoles on a wooden-pole install. I'd call Directv and have them send the tech back out to install them.

Note: I have an AT9, not a slim.

Yeah, I know the AT9 requires them and I know for certain mounting locations, the slimline gets them (my neighbor has a corner mount with one monopole).

But, I am specifically looking for advice on the slimline mounted on the wall (lag bolted through to 2x4s).

All installations should include monopoles. Wind is everywhere.

It took a little patience on the phone, but D* agreed to do a service call and send me an installer with two monopoles to add to the mount with no charge. They will also do another alignment after the pole install to make sure the dish is 'spot' on.

The install department guy did say he was not aware of the slimeline dish requiring the poles, but set it up anyway. Can't ask for more than that...

Ok everyone, after this thread's discussion, D* sent a tech out today to install the monopole(s) for me. My neighbor has only one, but I requested and got two.

What do you think?

I was pretty pleased with both D* and the installer. D* set it up for no charge and the installer agreed to use two poles at my request. He also tweaked the alignment and where my maximum signals before were all in the low to upper 80s, now they are 82 to as high as 100 (sat 101, transponder 28). I didn't have anything higher than 90 before.

That install looks fine, shouldn't move a bit.
