I am having an issue with no sound, when using the optical out from the hd-a2 to my hk avr-240 . I have the optical set to pcm and the hdmi to auto. I am using the hdmi for video on my hl-s5687w samsung tv. I can never get any sound whatsoerver. However, if I plug my avr-240 optical input to the optical output of my tv I can get sound. Is this how it should be done ???? Please advise !!! Thanks

Did you try "bitstream" for optical? Is the receiver set for digital on that input? Set HDMI to "PCM" if using optical.

Usually there are a few choices in the "setup" menu. "Digital/Analog/Auto" is common. If you haven't gone into setup, it might be set to analog by default.
