MX500 damaged

I've had my MX500 remote for a few years now and it's been working great. But the kids have handled it and dropped it a few times and now the backlight doesn't work and something has broken loose and is rattling around inside. Not having the backlight is bad enough but the rattle is driving me crazy.

I've searched the net and the AVS forum archives but can't find out how to take the remote apart. I see no screws or anything that would indicate it can be opened up.

Can someone here give me an idea as to how and open the remote?

well, after several more searches on the net I found the answer.

How to open an MX500

The problem was a loose screw. I couldn't find out where the screw went so I left it out. The remote has been working fine for months without it.

I didn't resolve the backlight issue however. That may take more surgery...I'll save that for a later date.
