White has a Slight Green Tint to it on a Sony KDE-50SX955 Plasma

I have a Sony KDE-50XS955 Plasma

There is a slight green tint in the 4:3 area of the screen and is only noticeable when watching hockey games or images with large white backgrounds. The ice has a slight green tint to it. Faces and other objects look normal. When I put the white wash screen up I cannot tell it looks all white to my eye, but if I display an all gray screen you can see differences in the gray color in the 4:3 area compared to the sides.

I just started to noticie this. It must have just started to happen or became noticeable.

I checked all connections and tried a second HD box with no change. I also have a Panasonic TH-37PX60U Plasma and the ice was all white with no green tint so that would tend to eliminate any connections and equipment to be the cause

Will professional calibration fix this?

Any ideas on this problem?

Thanks

Sounds like burn in to me.

I do not think it is burn in

I do not watch tv in 4:3. It is usually stretched to the edges.

In fact I watch more enhanced DVD's that have the bars on top and bottom and that is not noticeable.

Here are 2 pictures taken of the screen with the greenish tint

I had an ISF calibrator look at it and said he could not fix/adjust it with a calibration.

He said it looks like a Gamma or a White Balance problem.

He also said he does not think it can be fixed and it maybe inherent in the design of the set

Any thoughts or someone with same problem

Looking at your pics, I'd have to go with the burn-in theory. There is a pink discoloration on the sides of the image that corresponds to the positions of the 4:3 bars. This cannot be fixed with a calibration. Even if it is a gamma or white balance issue, it may not be adjustable on this TV. I have encountered Sony plasmas that had no functional white balance or gamma controls in either user or service menus.

Thanks for the reply

So if this is burn-in then the screen cannot produce white correctly anymore simply from watching TV over 1.5 years.

I watch different programming the brightness and contrast are turned down. I do watch more DVD's with the top and bottom bars compared to 4:3.

I think I watch TV normally but carefully not going to crazy and the burn-in happened anyway. It is not an image that is burned in but a discoloration that can only be seen with either a hockey games white ice or snow background.

Is their a way to fix this or make it less noticeable?
