There's also just a tuner for SD televisions. This should work for your current DVD recorder as well.

so I guess you will be able to buy VCR's with ATSC tuners

The unit mentioned is a DVDr/VCR combo, like many on the market now. It's not a stand alone VCR - I'm not sure anyone will make one of those with a digital tuner.
