SDI and VP50

Couple of questions on SDI and the DVDO VP50.

1. Can any standard def DVD player be modded with SDI? I have a Rotel 1060 DVD player, and would like to benefit from SDI.

2. Can you have multiple SDI cards in a DVDO VP50? I've seen some sat receivers are capable of SDI mods. I'd be interested in that too along with the DVD. However, I'm not sure if I'm limited to one card per machine

3. Last question. Any ideas where I can get my sources modded for SDI?

Thanks in advance.

1) Not all can be converted and if you really want to get the best out of it you need specific models with highly rated mpeg decoders.

2) No the DVDO scalers can only have one SDI input but you can get external SDI switchboxes.

3) Depends where you are? There are a couple of companies that will do it and there are several individuals who will too.

For an idea of what's available in the SDI world a good starting point is JVB Digital.

This begs the question of what, besides the Crystallio, has HD-SDI inputs? For us CRT'ers, can you output HD-SDI over RGBHV the same way you can with SD-SDI?

Thanks for info. I think I will look at the Denons from JVB since they are already modded, tested ---- that way I'm not experimenting.

I haven't run across the SDI switcher in my searches, including the JVB website. Any recommendations?

I live in Los Angeles. Not sure if there are any modders out my way.

Scott, Calibre Vantage HD has HD SDI input and RGBHV output, but I don't know if you can use that route for HD SDI, I sure hope so.
