Runco RS1100 w/ Whitney Cine-Wide Lens - Help!

Hi guys,

I really need some help - I am about to pull the trigger on the new runco RS1100 1080p with the Whitney Cine-wide anamorphic lens. I really want the Ultra - but its out of my price range and thus not an option.

The concern I have is that the Whitney Cine-wide lens may soften the image and/or cause pincushion - is this true? [Especially comapred to Runco's high end McKinley optics] I will be using the projector at its closest throw distance onto a 2070mm Wide X 880mm High 2.35:1 screen. So no issues with brightness - it should be toasty warm :-)

The actual throw distance of the projector and lens is 1.86 - 1.93. Because of the small size of my room I will be at the 1.86 end of the lens. I CANNOT do anything about this. I have heard that using the anamorphic lenses at the close end of the throw distance can cause geometry and or pincushion issues?

I would really appreciate some advice from anyone who has experience with this new Runco and anamorphic lens and / or anyone who has seen it in action.

I have seen Runcos with Cine-wide but only ever with high end McKinley optics in the Ultra versions.

Thanks.
